I have a L reg black RX7 FD3, its pretty standard apart from an aftermarket twin stainless system, apexi twin induction kit, cd player, and a massive replikit front bumper, im thinking of selling it as i cant afford to run it as much as i would like, it has 112k miles on the clock, very good condition and was re-built last december with paperwork, the only problem is i have found out it was  made cat d last summer but you would never tell by the way it drives and is, so my question is what do you think its worth as a cat d?

Thanks indvance for your replyes it will be greatly appreciated

Cat d`s are minor repairs so no problem there. Is the car an import or uk spec? Without seeing pictures i would say £2.5-3k.

Cat D can be many things, as TB says it can just be cosmetic damage, but due to difficulty of getting parts (ie: imported) the insurers decided not to bother. It can also mean damage that was uneconomical to repair (1.5k of bodywork on a 2k valued car for example), but also stolen/recovered after the insurers have already paid out (may not be damaged at all).

With a rebuild and proof of (especially if the warrenty is still valid after selling) then you may get more than 3k. I paid 5700 for mine. \'93 type-r with 1000miles on new rebuild, excellent condition, but quite a few mods. Problem is market isn\'t massive at the minute.

have a quick trawl round pistonheads and see what similar are going fo would be your best bet i imagine.
Work hard, play hard house :D

Well according to Turbotoaster a car on twins with no rebuild proof is worth 3k. There fore yours is cat d and generally speaking that\'s 70% value so yours is prob only worth 2k. Yeah right.

DR SCHNITZEL

The way the market is, id be lucky to get 6k for my car which has had 15k spent on it inc buying for 6400.

A fairly standard car in fair nick 2500 tops quid (i paid 1800 for one with a 1k clutch)
excellent nick with proof of rebuild 4000
showroom 5000
singles 5 to 8k
super modded 8 to 12.

talking 1992 to 1996

just a guide off the top of my head

Yeah, prices have come down significantly, petrol prices and RX7\'s love of it doesn\'t really help residual values!!!  Look on the bright side tho..... a really nice single turbo that cost 10K 1-2 years ago is only worth 5-7K now
