I have just started getting my heat light flicker on and off. Happens between 2000rpm up to about 3400rpm. Can be stationary and even on the down change. I.e the engine doesn\'t have to be loaded or under boost.
Geff has told me it\'s not knock as he connected an external reader to it today. He said most likely it is interference from the trailing plug or lead next to it. Plugs are new.. what on the lead would cause interference? I didn\'t get a chance to ask Geff in the rush today! Can somone tell me what I am looking for or if there is a way to shield the knock sensor to avoid the problem of interefence? Could a blowing exhaust or noisy pump cause the problem? Possibly a silly quesion but as I understand the senor picks up noise?

Any ideas gratefully recieved!

Thank you

Correct matey, it\'s just a microphone next to the block.
A bit of vibration, loose connection, dirt under the head can all set it off.

Do a search of heat light on here and look at the tales of misery!!

Mine is set off by:

Exhaust
Road noise
Dump valve
Stereo (I have seen it flicker in time to beat but dunno if it was just a coincidence!)

If you have a safe map I wouldn\'t worry about it, and knock is only a real problem at wide-open throttle.

Thanks for confirming and putting my mind at rest.. Now is there a way other than turning the sensor off in my apexi that I can over some this problem? If I wrap a foam sock around the bit sticking out of the block with that help?

Or do you just learn to live with it an only panic of it comes on full bore?!

You can turn it off on the commander mate, i have done as my manifold and aftermarket exhaust set mine off all the time.

Arh! I don\'t have a commander! If there isn\'t a way to shield it then I will have to get reworx to turn it of next time I go over there when I can sort out my boost controller!

I suppose you could cut it off at a push, but then PFC would show it as a fault and keep the heat light on all the time.

As long as your map is safe ignore it, and get reworx to plug in a commander and bin it next time your over!!
