hi,

took the car in about a couple of  weeks ago to have it serviced and everything came out ok apart from them saying the sensor or linearising something or other was going on the stock oil pressure gauge and it was giving inaccurate readings. hey i thought this is nothing new ;)  so i left it cause they wanted 80 odd quid to do it. i have just got a aftermarket oil pressure gauge(not digi) from blitz and am gonna fit it in the centre pod but unfortunately the instruccys are in japanese! just wondered if anyone know how to fit them or where on the oil system is best place to run it off .

any help apreciated

Cheers
Nick ;)

anyone? PLease????

im started to worry that with all this beautiful hot wheather coming(touch wood:rolleyes: ) something could go wrong and i aint gonna know bout it!

cheers

Firstly,  is it oil PRESSURE thats faulty, (no oil TEMP on stock car) if so, hot weather wont make a difference.

if your oil pressure sender is faulty then plugging a new gauge onto it wont fix the problem.

Did your new guage come with its own sender? If it did you need to try and fit where the stock mazda one goes,  little round brass dome in the side of the engine block just behind the dip stick. Usually has a rubber boot over it.  If it doesnt have one then you still need to spend 80 quid and buy one to make you new guage work.

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

yes sorry it is the oil pressure gauge NOT temp.

the only thing the gauge came with was a long copper tube and wot looks like a brass high pressure "T"  junction connector.

Hi,
it looks like you have a mechanical guage. I pressume that one end of that copper pipe connects to the back of the guage. If so, it means the guage reads pressure at the guage rather than have a sender in the engine that reads the pressure and sends an electronic signal to the guage.

If so, you will have to connect that straight into the oil system.  You might have to shop about for some fittings, i\'m not sure where the best place to read the pressure is. If the ecu needs to know oil pressure (i dont think it does) then you will have to leave the standard sender in. If it doesnt then you can unscrew it, take it to someone like Pirtec, the hydrolic hose people. They should sell you fittings to be able to connect that copper tube into the hole where the mazda sender goes.  One thing you must remember, with a mechanical guage, is to make sure all your joins are tight and sealed because you have hot oil plumbed into the cockpit.  You dont want a leak.!!

tony,

thanks for that.  i was also thinkin along the lines that the gauge must read it rather then any sensor due to the copper tube.
i am running an apexi power fc so i dont acutally know whether this ecu  requires the oil pressure levels or not. obviously this sensor that we are talking about runs the oil pressure gauge in the dash aswell then? if i take the sensor out will it no longer work at all?

thanks for the help

hopefully gonna look into gettin  this sorted over the weekend so any tips  would be good.

also i think  my front anti-roll bar might be coming loose in its rubber sittings cause it is starting to move slightly. anyone know where i can get some new ones and is it a hard job to do?

cheers

Not sure about the rolebar rubbers, try T.W. white on 01327 450 707, they are very helpfull and will send things out to you.

The stock gauge gets the reading from the sender under the oil filter.  So if you remove it, it will no longer work. its either that or take the banjo bolt from the oil pipe under the filter, drill and tap the end of it to take you fitting put it back and screw you copper pipe fitting to it. thats where i put oil my temp sender. At least that way if you muck it up, its only a banjo bolt and not anything more expensive.

tony thats excellent ill give them a call and hopefully i can get them sent out and sorted.

dont really want to stop the stock working totally so i think ill try the other method.

on your one, were you using one with an electronic sender onto the banjo bolt jobby or was it just a mechanical like mine where all i have is the copper tube?
is it a hard job to do cause i dont want to go screwing anything up like i have done before!:D

thanks

Mine was oil temp, so it just had a little sender just like a water temp sender.
If you take your banjo bolt out that holds the metal oil pipe on, take it to a friendly engineer, they can drill the top of the bolt out, tap the hole and then you can just screw the t piece above into it, and then screw your copper to that.  Does that t piece have have two holes or three, ?  if it has 3 then you will need to block one. Most of those brass fittings are the same so finding one to block the spare hole wont be difficult. If its the same as mine you will a 9.5 mm hole and a M10/1 tap.

okay cheers,

anyone know where i can get another banjo bolt and what the exact sizes of it are?. cause ill get it drilled and tapped while the original is still in the car
