I have just found a leak between the master cylinder and servo unit, as the car was laid up for some 11 years, I hope it my only be a dried gasket between the two, any idears about the best way to replace this would help,
also does anyone know if parts a still available for comlpete rebuild if required ?

If its leaking fluid between the master cylinder and the servo then the seals in the master cylinder need replacing. The master cylinder is a fluid tight unit and no fluid should escape.
There isn\'t a sealing gasket between the servo and cylinder ( at least there wasn\'t on mine).
It\'s a pretty simple repair. Undo the brake lines from the cylinder, unbolt it from the servo and then take the circlip out of the end of the cylinder to remove the piston and replace the seals. Reassembly is the reverse as they say...

The biggest hassle will be bleeding the brakes but a full fluid change after such a long lay up can\'t hurt.

When you strip the cylinder have a good clean out and check the bore for rust, if it looks a bit rough chuck the whole thing and get new one.
You may well get one from a motor factors, new old stock.

the spares availability re these should be fine. There are thousands still on the road in the U.S. and I would imagine Mazda would still provide support for these as they are a maintenance/ service item.

I have found them on U.S sites, but none so far on UK ones, I\'ll try Mazda tomorrow.

as Keith says, strip the cylinder 1st and check the condition of the bore or you may end up with a repair kit that you don\'t need!
When you changed the brake lines Dibs, did you replace the flexibles and the hard lines and if you did the hard lines, did you use factory parts or copper?
Just wondered cause I\'m trying to decide how far to go with the refurb of the lines on my project car and wondered if factory hard lines were still available?

A7RXY

Ian I had to use copper lines as at the time I could not find steel ones, as for the flexibles, I got a full set of new ones from Mazda but did not use them on the car, only as patterns to get stainless braided ones made up.
