Quote from: gavink;683082What\'s the quality of the rad like?..I\'ve been looking for a new up-rated one but the ones on e-bay just seem to cheap to be any good?.

Look at item number 160377315042 for example..£129incl!..Just cant be very good surely?

the welding could be slightly neater but apart from that its spot on, seen it on many cars and seems to be pretty effective, alot more than standard ones and should keep up with all the expensive ones.

A few people on here have got them from different vendors, they are all made at the same place so just find the cheapest place.

I looked around and got it for £109 inc delivery, if your looking on ebay, look at item number 400111401777 thats the same one ive got at the same price, very fast delivery aswell:D

You will find alot that companys copy established manufactors designs and then sell them much cheaper, yes its not fair but ill happily take advantage of that just like everyone else.

For example my quick shift for £30 is a B&M replica which i bet was normally £150

I know i got one after looking at yours on hear and FDUK :guinness

Just looked at the one for £99, I\'m so tempted to order one but I\'m just worried it will/must be crap...Just looked on MRP and the koyo rad is £375+vat, how can one for £99 even come close in quality or cooling capability?

turbotoaster

if you spend 6 months designing a radiator, testing different designs, flow rates to come up with the best possible, you employ loads of people, spent many hours on R&D, employ top guys to achieve results.

The you have to advertise around the world, sponsor teams and also make a big enough profit to make your shareholders happy.

2 months later someone gets one of your rads, takes it to china and asks a company to make an exact replica(sizes and everything) with very cheap labour.....thats what happens.

You get another company to pay to design it and then you steal there idea, capitalism at its finiest!

theres a few on fduk who run them and have stated they are running cooler water temps than standard.

Id get one, i can take more close up pics if you like?

John RX7

i was looking at getting a toyo rad,but if a £100 rad pretty much does the same job,as feed back from many people on here is good,id rather go for flee bay all the way,

turbotoaster does the rad you brought, replace the stock

yes it does replace the stock one, though it doesnt have a hole at the bottom of the rad for the AST pipe, but i dont run one anyway so doesnt concern me.

If you are putting it in the stock position it will fit fine, the only thing you may have to adjust is if your running a stock mount intercooler because of the thickness of the rad the intercooler may sit a little higher than stock.

What type of cooler are you running and ill tell you the effects

Lum

i have one of those ebay rads that i bought & never bothered fitting for some reason??
If its of use to one of you u can have it for £60 delivered?
Email me at lum-90@hotmail.co.uk

turbotoaster

also that rad has been run on steve rivetts trackcar that gets thrashed by his son who races cars, ie is flat out reving to 8k and pushing it much harder than most of us can and have no problems with temps from using this radiator.....£60 from Lum is a bargain!! wish i had known about it as i would have bought it to save myself £50!!

turbotoaster

ok next part of my ebay part special build arrived today :)

The elbow that bolts onto my throttle body, as previously mentioned the reason im going for this is to maintain my pipework size so that there is no airflow restrictions which in theory will maximise the air entering the inlet manifold, i know the differences are minimal, but as a famous supermarket once said, every little helps!

Got it £79 delivered which was the cheapest around i could find it

looks like this is the company thats paying china for it

have to say, casting internally is pretty poor, so im gonna spend this afternoon with some sand paper and smooth it all out

heres what i mean about there being an internal step, this is the point at which im gonna cut it off, hence losing the narrow part

Checking its the same size as my intercooler...good to go!!

Not sure what to do next, either order my 2 fuel pumps or mod my intercooler so i can fit it with my rad, will have a think about when i next get paid

Grant Monkhouse

i bought one of those elbows for my car, must say mine is a bit better on the inside, however i am going to be smothing it out. Not just yet though as i am still to get the rest of the bits for my single turbo.

Have you thought about having your throttle body ported and polished? I was thinking of getting this done to increase airflow, however i am not sure how much it costs and who in the uk would do it? Was just a thought towards your 200mph goal, as you said before "every little helps"

turbotoaster

already done, its on page 1

steve rivett did all my porting, he also ported out all my UIM/LIM for me aswell those pics are also on page 1 :)

well for porting my plates, housings, UIM/LIM and throttle body, he charges £400, so i think about £150-£200 for the UIM/LIM and throttle body......not sure how much for the throttle body on its own

Grant Monkhouse

have just measured that reducing piece, 2 3/8 of an inch!! will definately be chopping that off when i put it in my car. Thanks for pointing out the obvious!

May well see if we can weld another longer piece, of the same diameter, back on so i dont have as much silicone hose!

gavink

Hi turbotoaster.

Are you having to get some upper mounts welded to the radiator as they dont have them :2Confused

im assuming your intercooler pipes are 3 inch then? if your running stock size pipes there isnt really a need to cut it off.

my outlet on the turbo is 3.5inch and im reducing that down to 80mm OD, and keeping that size all the way through, if you only running a small turbo or intercooler piping its not really worth it.

Quote from: gavink;685583Hi turbotoaster.

nope, the intercooler will be sitting vertically behind the rad, wont need upper mounts

Grant Monkhouse

Yes they are 3 inch. The elbow will only be gong on when I get my single trbo bits, the turbo I am getting will be a 4094 so 2 3/8 of in inch will be too small for the outlet on that trbo, I think. Also the outlet for my intercooler is 3 inch so would be a bit daft reducing it back down. Not too worried about it yet as I still have few things to but, including the turbo, which isn\'t cheap!

Must have missed the pctures of your ported t/b as been a while since a read the first page. Will have a look back through though.

Grant Monkhouse

How much material has been taken out of the t/b? That looks really good, will deffinately get mine ported out when going single as I am running very large stree ports, maybe somewhere near to the size of yours.

I am using my Iphone for the internet so I can post a reply quicker than the pictures upload. Hope you succeed in reaching 200 on your budget, makes me think how silly I was to put a full veulside bodykit on my car when I could have spent more money on the perfomance, but then again my car wouldn\'t look as good as it does.
