What have I gone and done…………………..

Having owned both a Gen3 and a Cosmo you’d have thought I’d learned my lesson…………..Nooooooooooo…..…. Number three is on the drive.

Not only have I bought another rotary but it’s already bust.

I guess some will say that at least I won’t have to wait for it to go pop.

I’ll put some pics up tomorrow it was too dark when we got it back here today.

Most of you will know the car – Pete’s white T11 cab

I think you’ll agree it’s a lovely looking Gen2 and hopefully with a bit of TLC and luck, being that the engine isn’t total scrap, I’ll be able to have it back to how it deserves to be.

My first thought was to replace the engine with one I had planned for my truck, a Lexus V8. However having been badgered by both of the CH’s [that’s Clive Haynsford & Carl Hayward] I’ll try to keep it rotary but it will all come down to money. After all I’d only have to find the money to have the Lexus fitted. Wouldn’t be cheap but neither would a rebuild.

Need to try and find out how badly screwed the engine is first.
So if there’s anybody in the Solihull area that thinks they might help with a diagnostics please drop me a mail, I make good coffee.

So that’s me sorted for a winter project.

What worries me is that my cars seem to be getting older faster than I am.

You Gen2 guys can expect some questions

Just need to buy a REPU next :) don\'t worry my cars are getting older, 99>97>91>82 hehe :D

\'REPU\' I even had to google that

Congratulations. Very nice car that one. Dunno if Pip @WGT would be able to shed any light on the engine. He had it in not long before it went pop.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Well done :D You could always buy kiwimazda bridge ported motor and set it back to a TII engine. May want a good size turbo too !

The guy [young man] who bought it did spend a fair bit of money with Pip but messed around with a couple of ECU\'s and chips.

I have no real idea of what he did but I\'m guessing he went too far.

Good idea to ring Pip, not sure how much light he\'d be able to shed, but worth a call.

Thanks

If anyone doesn\'t know the car, this was Peter\'s \'for sale\' thread

Been out in the rain for a couple of months since it looked that good, but it\'s only superficial grime

I seem to remember he just had issues with the car and kept taking it back, rather than checking it out more himself. I have been in petes white vert :) its a good car :)

dthebuk

yea he had quite a few threads up about it actually, think he ended up wanting to sr20 it.

Anyhu good buy, pete doesn\'t seem to bad at making good looking fc\'s!

Still think a REPU is the way forward :D I know someone in norway putting a 26b into one :)

I think a Parkway would have slightly more kudos than a Repu :Thumbs-up, though they are undeniably cool. And I din\'t have to Google either of them :p. Pete\'s old cab is a most excellent bollide, I was tempted to make him an offer when he sold it in the first place.

Hi John,

Sorry I didn\'t get back to you on Saturday! First thing I would do is check what ECU it has at the moment, and if there\'s any doubt obtain a stock S5 ecu and a boost controller. In terms of engine, until you know the exact nature of the failure it\'s hard to advise what steps to take next... :wave

John,

If you need a totally stock ecu in known working condition, to test with, I can provide one - although I will want it back at some stage as it\'s my "looking at and seeing how it works ECU" :cool

I know Pete\'s old car is 88, but it\'s got Series 5 loom and engine - the ECU I have is off my vert so it\'s a UK Series 5.

Let me know if you need to borrow it :)

Thank\'s for the offer, one I\'ll more than likely accept.

I\'ll pull the ECU today and see what it is.

He told me used two, referring to one as \'the one that blew the engine\'

He also went on about you helping him with a fueling issue, do you remember that?

The first of my \'what\'s this\' pics.

Why is this little pipe just left in the big pipe. Can\'t see this doing anything?

doesn\'t look like the best place to mount a boost control either.
