not too keen on buying a turbo from ebay unless it is from a company with a guarentee.

EHM.. no Ebay, bought here on the forum. Brand spankin new GT40R (verified genuine) and Ebay manifold.

Quote from: Cashpoint;652188My gt4088 isn\'t a BB version thats the gt4088r. I\'m still on Mkivsupra.net and there have been alot of failures of the gt4088r on supra recently. As the FD exhaust temp are higher the the 2JZ engine I decided against the BB version.

the gt4088 is a lot cheaper then? i have seen them for around 700 quid. (whereas the 4088r is a lot more expensive) brand new that is, and the complete kit for around 2000. Would ceramic coating help with cooling stuff down?
I only want the 4088r as it starts spooling 1000rpm earlier?

Did you haveany problems with the manifold? i have seen them for next to nothing on price but have been told they are a pain to get to fit properly?

If you have any kind of porting the extra for the BB isn\'t worth it 3rd Gear pulls on mine I\'m in positive boost by 2k. So that would mean your developing boost from tickover, you\'ll be on first name terms with all the local Petrol station. The money I saved getting the 4088 over the 4088r I bought a Vmount setup.

How much did you get the v mount for? what sort of water temperatures/air temperatures do you see with the v mount?
I have got a front mounted intercooler that has to be mounted before putting the front bumper on whch could be a pain in the arse if i ever needed to take it out. Also running the standeard radiator, new shiny aluminium ones are 500 quid

Quote from: Bob Monkhouse;652133cheers for the pricing, know what sort of money im looking at now. Is that price for fiiting aswell? As we will be able to fit it ourselves.
How much is ceramic coating out of curiosity? Does it reduce engine temperatures substantially?

Ceramic coating not only reduces heat soak within the engine bay, but also keeps the heat inside both the turbo and manifold.
In answer to your question...the heat is reduced by up to 40%

We offer a wide range of coating:
Manifold: £135
Downpipe: £129
Exhaust Housing: £126
Lower Inlet Manifold: £125

The above items are priced in Performance white, except the LIM which is done using an aluminium thermal coating. This offers a reflective barrier as well as a thermal barrier. Colours are also available for roughly an extra £6 per item.

I would not bother with the R for the price you only gain about 300rpm quicker spool than with the non ball bearing, which can be made to spool plenty quick with the right porting and tuning

I also have large extended ports which carl did say would make my car un-driveable with the set up i have but it is quite manageable, it is the heavy duty clutch i have in that requires an elephants weight to use it, however now i have replaced the rear suspension it is more manageable at low rpms

It is not that expensive then, thanks for the info. will keep it in mind when i purchase the turbo

300rpm for something that costs nearly double? someone is making a lot of money there!!!
with the journal bearing turbo you require a larger oil feed than that of the ball bearing turbo? How is this linked into the engine oil system?

Not sure that i said that quite.
I think i was refering to something else at the time.(Maybe in jest)
The Ball bearing turbo is a great bit of kit in my opinion. Spool up depends on more than just tune, turbine A/R\'s also are involved as is exhaust flow, porting of exhaust and inlet and a whole lot more.
I generally find that a BB turbo will spool alot earlier than plain bearings.

We warranty our rebuilt engines for Detonation, track day\'s and RWYB and NOW for 30 months which is two and half years or 30,000 miles
We also build all types of race or road engines.
We build race and track cars too.
Any kind of porting undertaken.
Single turbo conversions.

Yes we might have been talking about someting else, was quite a long time ago now since we discussed the engine over the phone for the first time so may have got confused.
Being a bit thick here but what are A/R\'s?. Will give you a ring tomorrow if you are not too busy about what you think? wont be buying this turbo soon but in the near future, as i want more poke in my car, it is more than fast enough but more is always better??
Need to ask you about my twins aswell as regards of passing oil? Did you say they were a bit worn when we went over to steves place?

JayDee

I was quoting like for like turbos ie the same size the 2 turbos went on the same car back to back, i would only use bb on large frame turbos, there not worth the cost and small gain imho

I was hoping that you wouldn\'t ask about the temps as I haven\'t fitted it yet. In my excitment on getting new shinny parts I dropped the intercooler on the rad :Grrrputting a hole in it. Only a small one I filled the rad to make sure it wasn\'t damaged but there\'s a small leak and that\'s under no pressure.

that is terrible news, im sure there will be someone out there that can fix or part exchange for a replacement? is the intercooler ok though? Can you get them pressure tested to find out?
