Hi I\'m new on here so if any of the questions I ask are a bit obvious I apologize in advance. First question is I seem to be losing water from below the filler buy the head light but can seem to see where its coming from and when I turn the engine off it sounds like its boiling or just bubbling is this bad news? the temp gauge shows all is fine and it drives fine.
I have loads of other issues to ask but best if I sort this one first
But here\'s some more any way just to keep you lot busy
erattic beeping from the dash at any RPM
no odometer reading just blank
the whole car rattles like hell
and finally what oil do i put in it? Its full of fully synthetic at the mo but totally unsure now of what to use
Only took me ten years to pluck up the courage to buy one of these and now it looks like I have my work cut out
Thanks in advance for any feed back

hi there
your not the only one with this problem :( ive got the exact same problem and now its seems to have a hissing noise on the turbo side.
i was told to change the rad cap to see if its not holding it spressure, and so far no joy.ive seen a few ideas from previous posts on here to try, have a search on the old posts on water leaks.im certainly trying a few other tricks before i start panicking :(

Got a feeling its not good all points to combustion gases to me
oh well best make a start pulling the engine out then
I got so much to do to this car its not real but getting all done will be very satisfying

What mileage has the car got on it??
The water coming from behind the headlight isn\'t a major problem... it\'s just the headertank overflowing slightly!! and as for the bubbling sound when you turn it off, that is just the Air Seperation Tank (AST) doing it\'s job, but if you can hear it ,normaly it\'s the first sign of water seal issues :(

Do you get any lights on the dash when it beeps?? I know when the coolant is low you get a light & a beep telling you to add coolant, which tallys up with the possible seal failure. although if there are electrical issues, it could easily be the RPM change buzzer kicking in at random times (or does this only happen @ 7500rpm?? As this is when the shift buzzer sounds!)

Interior sqeeks & rattles..... Every FD has them!! the only way to get around this is to strip the car of all plastic, like a race car..... but even then I don\'t know if you would cure it???

Hope this helps...

don\'t get any lights on with the beep or any other temp/coolant related issues, mileage is around 76k it had a rebuild 2 years ago and recent compression test showed all around the 7 mark
I\'m going for a full strip and rebuild of the whole car anyway just wanted to use it on the odd day through the winter till I have the time in the spring to do the work

Perhaps check the seals on any of the pressure caps - ast and radiator filler, take them off (whilst cold lol) and get a cloth and clean round the rubber seal and also where the seal sits.

I have heard that if there is any rubbish or gunk there, it doesn\'t seal well enough and as the pressure rises this starts to leak a bit. Might be worth a go :)

mine used to make a few gurgling noises when it was on the stock plastic AST, replacing it with an ali one seemed to stop that meaning it probably had a crack in it. also, get an aftermarket water temp gauge, even if the car is stock.

the champagne test is a good one, start the car from cold and take the filler cap off then look for bubbles. if you have them then the water seals are gone.

i use Motul 5w40 fully synthetic in mine, hasn\'t blown up yet :)
