Ive just recieved my new gauges and fitting time is today, now ive got to figure out where they all go.

Ive got 2 temp gauges, oil and water.  Where do i pick up the temp from?  I believe i have temp sending thingys, but where do i screw these into?

I also have a rev counter, where is the wire the original picks up from?

Finally, i have boost, but i am replacing the RE-A gauge on my steering column so this should be pretty easy.

Thanks in advance.

every body will probably have different answers for where the best place to take the temps from but at the end of the day, you are only looking for differences in actual temperature, ie, to make sure it is warmed up and to make sure its not getting too hot. The actual temp will vary from guage to guage.

I have installed oil and water temp guages on all of my Rx7\'s, I found the easiest place for the oil is to drill and tap the banjo bolt that bolts the oil pipe between the engine and the oil cooler (on the passenger side under the spark plugs towards the back of the enigne).  The sender will then screw into the top of the banjo, but make sure its a good fit becuase you have nearly 8 bar of pressure, or you could braise it.

For the water temp, if your car is an FD, and the guage you bought has a couple of different couplings for the sender, then you can usually screw it straight into the thermostate housing (where you put the water in)  You will find three allen type bolts around the neck. Unscrew a lower one of these and your sender should screw straight in.  Use a bit of PTFE tape of teflon sealer to help seal it.  This will be in front of the thermostat and if it fails to open properly it wont read temp increase although the water in the engine will be getting hotter.  The ecu takes the temp from behind the thermostat but as far as i know its a bugger to fit there. Maybe one of the knowledgable ones will have an answer to this.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

For oil temp you can use a sandwich plate that goes between the block and oil filter. Greddy do one, I think tweaks sell them for around £70. Mocal (thinkauto) were thinking of doing one for around £30, but everytime I tried to ring the man in the know, he was on the other line so am now just copying the greedy design and milling one out out of solid alu billet, lol, when i get chance of course .

For the water temp you can put a t-piece in the water pipe going to the top of the radiator. You\'ll have to cut the water pipe up to do this though and then jubilee the t-piece in, mocal should also sell these along with tweeks. I\'ve got a photo somewhere of one fitted (will also be making one of these soon for my car ;) )

Hope this gives you a few more options,

Paul:)
