Quote from: BinoX;639759Well, I\'ve almost finished taking the auxillary parts off the engine. Just 1 to go...

I accidently rounded off one of the nuts holding the intake manifold on, so I\'ve gotta wait until tomorrow now so I can grab my mates rounded off nut remover.

Had a look in through the exhaust ports with a torch earlier and it looks like the rotors are in tact and there doesn\'t seem to be any obvious signs of the seals being broken, just look a bit worn down, but I\'ll see when I get the engine apart soon :D

Been taking a while since I\'m working on it outside at the weekends (Yes, it\'s stored in the dry, I\'m not leaving it out in the rain) and the weather has been far from good. I would do it in the evenings, but my girlfriend is insistent that I spend time with her in the evenings and that I spend too much time with my RX8 without her having to contend with another car, lol :)

Pics to follow, got quite a few good ones, some of which I didn\'t even know were being taken!

Edit: Oh and I\'ve just joined the club, so should be up as a full club member soon :D Yay for me!

Remember if you do rebuild the engine to put in FD corner seal springs and not the FC ones lol

BinoX

Was planning on using those corner seals you can get with the springs built in, I\'ve heard they\'re more robust than the standard.

Well, it\'s apart at last :) Took some doing, but I finally found the time to do it :D

Below are a couple of images of the freshly de-auxillaried engine :)

And finally below is a picture of the engine taken apart:

Bad news for those hoping that I\'d get a 20B in there though, but good news for my wallet, lol... The rotors and housings seem completely in-tact. It appears that the engine failure was caused by the water and oil seals going. One of them totally disintegrated when I took the engine apart!

So unless I get some cash injection from somewhere or someone offers me a stupid amount of cash for my engine internals, then it\'s gunna just be a rebuild. (Hint, buy my rotors and housings etc and help fund a 20B conversion, lol)

Or buy my broken engine (It has 1 good compression rotor/housing) and bolt it to your engine giving you a 20B ;)
Good work by the way. One day I will do my own rebuild. Not for a while though hopefully!
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

BinoX

lol.. Don\'t much fancy trying to build up my own 20B. Although I may give Hayward Rotary a call and see if we can come to some sort of arrangement :D

hey binox, nice to see someone that isn\'t feared of the rotary beard! It\'s spurring me on to tackle mine. most people over here in ireland look at me with one eye brow raised and head tilted to one side, if i mention rebuilding rotarys!!
