yes, that did used to be the bolt that holds the strut to the wishbone. bloody thing just won\'d move! i\'ve tried everything from sockets with a breaker bar, grips, grips with a breaker bar, even a hammer and chisel!

i\'m about to make a couple of flat edges with a grinder and then attack it with a Stilson, but if that fails what else can i do? the only thing i can think of is cut the whole damn thing off and buy another linkage.

Depends on the other end. is it a bolt? can you grind the head off and drift it out? as a last resort, good luck

You tried using a nut splitter? (basically cuts the nut in 1/2, its not like you can reuse it lol)

jackaleks

hmm, that nut splitter looks good, although i might just grind right through the ....... thing now.

no luck with the Stilson, that just chewed big holes into the nut.

well, looks like i\'ve been a bit overzealous with the grinding and gone into the thread :cool

does anyone know if you can replace the bolt in the linkage or do i need to buy a new one?

Grizzly

Sure that side isn\'t captive?

I\'d be tempted to just grind it of with an Angle grinder and get a new bolt.

.... easy. as you said grind 2 edges into the rounded nut. then heat the thing up hot hot hot with a blowtorch. then get a spanner on it and it should slide off smooth.

i started out using a multi-sided socket and when that didn\'t work tried a flat sided socket...

then i tried grips and that didn\'t work (obviously). then i got out the hammer and chisel, then flattened it off with the grinder and used a Stilson which just chewed the nut to pieces.

got ....ed off and just attacked it with a grinder . now i need a new stabiliser linkage!

thanks for the comments guys, i\'m pretty sure i know where i went wrong (i.e. everything!) so i should be set for any troublesome nuts at the front.

grinder

im shocked a 6 sided one did that sort of damage - you would expect it to snap the bolt first !!
