So any idea how I get mine down?

ro284

Well no expert here, but as i understand it the Apexi base map is a bit on the rich side for a start!unless you know how to adjust it especially to pass the emmissions, (which is possible,) (if it has to have the cat tested!), first i would check the air pump is running, (and pumping) and connected, then personally in the absence of knowledge re-mapping the Apexi, i would fit the standard ecu back on, and try again, very unlikely you would need another cat. But hopefully someone more clued up will be along shortly,
Good Luck,
Bob

i think i got a knights sports ecu. where is the air pump i dont even know what it looks like? i was thinking a remap might sort if but i dont know about thing about maps, or where to take it. i know its down on power only got 245bhp on a roalling road the other day so this could also sort that out?

Kevin

Air pump is located on the front left hand side of the engine block inbetween the filler neck and the intake pipes.  It has a pulley on it and a belt that drives it.  Often quite common to fail.

As far as im aware the knightsports ecu isnt mappable either, well certainly dont know anyone over here who can do it.

Might be far easier to find a more "friendly" MOT place?

Is this the air pump?

how do i check its working

Kevin

It is indeed mate.  Basically it\'s a pump that feeds fresh air into the exhaust system when on idle.  Obvious ways to check are to see if belt is moving etc and noise etc.  Other way, abit awkward to is to jack up car take of the feed pipe to the exhaust and check if anything is coming out.

Im sure there might be an easier way if someone else knows, but this is what I did when I diagnosed a faulty one on one of my FD\'s.
