SCOOMER

So my cars been off the road 3 years now, i turn the engine over by hand every so often. Well today i thought id start it up for the first time in 6 months, i knew the battery hasnt been the best lately so i tryed to jump it from my daily driver. Before i hooked the jump leads up i turn the rx7 ingnition on and every thing came on as usual (boost controller, apexi controller, Defi gauges, stereo..) so i started my daily, hooked up the leads and now NO power to the items ive listed. Car wont even turn over. I unhooked the leads and checked the fuse on the jump leads, Blown! Lights work fine, the dash lights up, heater works, everything else dosent. Ive checked the fuses in engine bay and drivers foot well and nothing has blown. Is there another bunch of fuses ive missed? The signal lights work but dont sound or seem to work as they should...? This is a real pain because i was just about to sell. So need this sorted ASAP.

Anyone ideas? :3Confused

Scott.

Its doing weird stuff now, When it first happened the apexi commander still worked and both head lights would pop up, now only one head light works, very slow mind you and the commander doesnt come on.....?:Hammer

At the moment ive removed the battery and stuck a trickle charger on as thats all i have.

Any body ideas?

Hi Scott,

Have a look in the squareish box behind the battery to see if you have popped a main fuse,

If the car has stood this long chances are that the battery wont take a trickle charge as the normally need some real volts to kick an old battery back into life

My advise would have to be get the battery checked out properly as the back feed jumping onto a dead battery can possibly hurt the ECU,

If you are jumping this way don\'t go and connect all 4 terminals up, put the earth from the car your jumping from onto the engine to earth on the one that won\'t start,
All the best Clive

Thanks for the reply Clive, hope you and lisa are well.

Checked all fuses and they are fine, charged the battery up and everything works now apart from no screen on my apexi commander or lights on the dash. Oh and it obviously wont start. :2Mad

Do you know anyone who can repair Apexi power fc ECU\'S? Cant really afford a new one straight away then get it remapped as well.

Ok now im really comfused, had a poke around the car again making sure ive checked all fuses Etc Etc...turn the key in ignition and now the apexi power FC works, dash lights are on! But no stereo of defi gauges light up. If i turn the key to turn over the engine it just clicks now, mmmmm.

Theres also something wrong with the turn lights as well, they just dont sound the same and the front left off side indicator doesnt work but the bulbs fine!?

Does anybody have a standard ECU they can lend me, i dont want to buy a new apexi power FC then find out its something else.

Slowly but surely im getting the rotary bug back, i mite have to keep her in the end

Ok ive upload a few videos on youtube, have a look and lets here what you think.

The first one sounds like the starter solenoid trying to engage but i could be wrong.

HY Scott, I think your battery voltage is simply to low or the baaatery is dead.

The ticking noise from the first vid is the startermotor which is unable to come out of it\'s \'no-use) possition.

I would check the battery for voltage. I charged my battery time and time again, mesured voltage and that was fine, still when I started the car, it died instantly. Put in a new battery and it worked jsut fine. Maybe try to drop in a battery from an other car  to find out if that\'s the issue

Do your instrumentpanel lights allmost go out when you try to start the car?

SCOOMER

Hi Neal, yes they go very dim when im trying to start the car. Il try another battery, iv had my moneys out of the old one as its lasted 7 years :Thumbs-up

I\'ll second the battery being the problem. They need a lot juice to turn over.

Scoomer I\'ve had this problem too, get a voltage meter any less than 12.4 Volts and it can have problems starting.  When running should be around 14v
