Brakes binding when moving the car

Now that I\'m able to drive the car in and out of the garage, I am finding that all the brakes appear to be binding... If I use the brakes, all 4 wheels bind a bit. If I jack up each corner in turn, the wheels can\'t be turned by hand. However, if I loosen the two bolts holding on the master cylinder, it releases the pressure on all the wheels.

is this normal (new pads, new disks, new brake master cylinder), or is the brake booster or cylinder doing something odd? I have bled the brakes (although I may have to redo the rears again...), and while the brakes feel firmer, they definitely do not bind any less...

Might have found the answer:

"Booster pin length incorrect
If the pin from the booster that pushes on the master is too long, the master will not return to the correct rest position when you release the brake pedal, retaining a residual pressure in the system. Try shimming the master off the booster about 1/32" and see if the drag disappears. If it does, remove the master and adjust the booster pin inward."

It may be an idea to jack up the car and see if all wheels are binding

If they are all binding have a look at the rod on the brake pedal  where it pushes into the back of the Servo because on the RX-4 this was adjustable and you may well find that yours is as well,

If all brakes are binding, shorten the rod a little and see what you get,

If not release the bulkhead nuts and see if the brakes let go.

Hope this helps

Yup, checked that - when jacked up in turn, each of the wheels was locked solid.  Undoing the bolts for the master cylinder released the brakes.  Thanks for the hint - I\'ll give that a go tomorrow evening.  Now the car is largely ready for MOT, I took the night off and slung a stereo install in there... *grin*  It\'s all about getting the priorities right...

Next is putting the carpet in... *shudder*
