Think with any rotary lump its the history and proof of mileage or even rebuild. A decent TII lump is gonna start probably at £600 though and you may pay more if its been rebuilt. Even knackered ones go for £200 for spares.

if the reason you want an egi with a TII lump is becuase you\'ve bought bits for it. Why not take the bits off the egi, fit them to a TII and sell the egi. Personally I\'d only keep the egi if it had a mint shell. If not, whats the point? At the end of the day, the shell is the hardest bit to replace

made my mind up now!! gona go crazy on the egi and just have a street port maybee a half bridge done, can i have a bridge port done without modification to fueling ecu and injection? or am i limited to a street port on standard fueling etc??

It seemed abit silly spending 1500+ on a t2 conversion when i could pick a whole car up for that.
cheers.

Is that black TII still going on ebay? that had a rebuilt engine.  As with any porting then to get the most out of it then you must spend money in upgrading the fuel/exhaust system. Dont forget you are porting it to extract more power and to get more power you need more fuel/air.
Think you need to do your sums as streetport/bridgeporting the lump and the rebuild is not going to be cheap and then you must change the header, exhaust, fuel pump,ECU etc etc to name just a few things if you dont want to see all that money blown away with a bit too much right foot. Its easy to do.
That TII coupe was only going for £1500 with a rebuilt engine and with a few other essentials thrown in. it would have made a very good base car or even just as it was.

Also I think it\'s worth a mention that porting gives a different kind of power. Whenyou port an egi you do away with all the aux valves (I think) and as a result your low end rev rev range loses a lot of torque. All good if it\'s a track beast but driving on the street won\'t be as fun. IMO the low end range is torqueless enough at standard. Also with a turbo you have more scope for upgrades, it\'s cheaper and it provides more torque. If you really want the most out of a ported egi lump then you\'ll be looking at making it rev higher too. Look at the thread by jm garage. Maybe ask them how much it is costing. I\'d love a porter egi, but tII\'s are just cheaper

Ive been on the phone to a few specialists and they have all come back with a rebuild cost of around 1500 and to port id be looking at another 300.
Im aware that porting does move the power band further up the rpm range but i like a car that i have to work to get results i want lol.
My end goal is to end up with a street/driftable car,and no i haven\'t watched to much initial d:Giggle lol i just love the idea of blasting through corners sideways ever since i had mt sierra RIP lol.
When the rebuild comes around ill improve other areas of the car such as fuel delivery etc and then in the future ill swap too a t2..just have to see where this takes me.cheers.

Awesome. Though its not the cheapest option, porting an egi great. Nice rotary NA power :D What kinda power you aiming for? If you strip the car down to under a ton then in theroy you should have an awesome drifter. Just look at the 160bhp AE86\'s.

what i can get i expect lol,na im aiming for about 180-200bhp:chat.I spent a weekend stripping out the rear of the car of all the sound deadening and stupid back seats and bodged some cobra buckets in.
Next step after the rebuild will be sorcing some sort of coilovers, lsd, sterring wheel, and then brakes, then off too santa pod dwyb!

dthebuk

Ah right, you going for a street port then?

What lsd you going for? Welded diff all the way!!! :D

sounds like more and more FC\'s are going to dwyb. We should try and get a lil mini dwyb 2ng gen meet on the go

yeah that or a 2way diff,id be up for a dwyb when ive got mine upto speed, your t2 your drift machine then?

dthebuk

personally don\'t see the point in 2ways as apparently they perform pretty much the same for grip and drift driving.

Haha not yet. Hopefully it will be. Should be well above the spec i\'ll need for a long time

yeah my goal so far is buckets, wheels 18\'s?,coilovers,bushes,steering wheel, decent pedals, exhaust, brakes and some sort of diff and maybee a kit once im good enough to stay away from the kitty litter lol.
what are welded diffs like to live with?? last think i want is it pushing me trough a corner into a hedge lol, also ive heard some people put bolts trhough the diff gears too also act as a back up for the welds??

dthebuk

TBH mate you need to get yourself drift works and do a search for welded diffs (in the drifting chat section).

Buckets...get one
wheels...go smaller as; smaller wheels handle better, rubber is cheaper, the break traction easier (i think) due to less rubber in contact with the ground. I\'d just buy a spare set of stock rims which are 15\'s or 16s. Then maybe another set of nice wheels for the front/shows.
Coilovers... i belive flikstrr may have a set of gp sports coilovers for sale, ask him on DW.
bushes...deffo. Also you\'ll need the DTSS eliminator bushes (they eliminate rear steer)
Steering wheel... As long as its fully round it should be awesome.
Diff... basically 2 ways lock pretty much all of the time, and they\'re pretty expensive. you can get your diff welded for about £50 and the main difference will be wheel hop when you\'re driving slow, like going out of junctions and so. As for going through a hedge, back in the day, alot of race cars used to run locked diffs so you should be fine. Tbh i had the same problem with diffs. My plan was got a 1.5 way as a spare if i ever want to take the car on track, and just put the welder in for drift use.
As the for welds, i dont know. Just whack a post up on drift works saying, i need my diff welded. Then hopefully an experienced diff welder will get in  contact :D

oh Exhuast.....dunno what youve got atm. But the power is to be had with a decent header/mainfold and running a full through. You WILL need some sort of silencer. Full throughs on EGi\'s make the car sound like it eats babies.

As far as a kit goes....well thats personal preference. I do have an entire standard TII kit. which is a front bumper side skirts and rear bumper. Not sure if i want to sell it, but if you really want it i may consider.

now go skid :D

hahaha eating babies, yeah ive recently bought a full stainless cat back from jperformance-
-(they assured me that the system i had been sold would fit my egi as it was a t2 system, they said just use the catback part?? i double checked with them and they assured me it would fit...which it didn\'t....so i had to pay 100 of the queens finest nuggets to have the bloody thing modified as it was too short)...nice system though 3inches from the manifold through a mid can then onto a 4inch can.Stil makes my ears bleed so i put the silencer bung in as it was setting car allarms off lol.
The seats i got some off a guy at work, old cobra\'s that he had in his series landrover lol,got me some compomotives 16\'s for drift duty as they are only 7 wide then ill get some poncing about rims lol.
This rear stear bush? do i have them on my egi? ive heard they dont but im sure it will need to be changed either way..20 years old and all..
