Hi everyone,

I\'m new on here, just thought I\'d introduce myself...

I\'m Ben, from Sevenoaks, and I\'m in the market for a 1st Gen RX-7. I\'ve always loved the FD3S, but only recently discovered the 1st gen ones, and I prefer them by miles!!

The only problem is I\'m 6\'4", and I don\'t know whether I\'ll fit! Is anyone else on here a similar height, or close by to me so I could perhaps have a sit in one? I\'m really hoping I can, I\'m not worried about fitting bucket seats or modifying seat rails if required...

Thanks in advance for any help, and hopefully see some of you out and about soon!!

Cheers,

Ben

I\'m 5\' 9" but I always have to drive with the seat modded upwards by 2" or so at the back to suit the wife who\'s quite small. I think what I\'m trying to say is that the 1st Gen might need mods for a small person but you can get plenty of tilt on the seat back for a laid-back sort of style if you\'re tall. You\'re doing the right thing by trying it first though.

Thanks for all the help guys, and welcomes...

I\'ve done a few searches and I\'ve found to look for rust under the rear wheel arches and in door bins, are there any other mechanical areas (apart from the usual brakes, suspension etc) which I should pay particular attention to when looking at cars?

Thanks again for all your help and advice guys, it\'s greatly appreciated...

Yep, working slow it takes about 30 mins to fit new steering idler bushes.
Look at the bottom of the radiator from the engine side - is the matrix \'unzipping\' - recoring the stock rad is easy but about £100.
Very few of the original exhausts left now but a new replacement one might cost £250 in M/Steel, but £500 in stainless.
Obviously does the engine seem healthy? A bit of smoke on start up is normal.
What\'s the instruments show when hot. You want a reasonably good oil pressure reading when revved - our 51,000 miler\'s oil pressure will swing upscale to about 80psi when revved hot but I think that\'s exceptional. (the engine has had 17/18 oil changes since new!).
