Hi everyone. As usual, I need a little help :D
I\'ve bought a FD in UK, I take it in Italy but my cousin lives in Londra (but she don\'t know nothing about the cars) and I thinked those two thinks:
1) leave the car registred to her (if she want), so I could resell in UK maybe.
2) Write the car in V5 to me but with the her adress.
This last solution, is possible or I must live there? The person must be resident or need just a valid adress for communication?

In both case, the TAX, no problem, I could send her to pay, but for the MOT, how it works? Expecially, (on wikipedia there insn\'t) every how many months/years a 1995 FD must do the MOT?
I could buy a MOT for 2years before take it in Italy and don\'t came every 6months/year to do the MOT?
Very thanks and sorry for my terrible English :spank

Hi

I can\'t answer all your questions, but regarding the UK MoT, a \'95 car needs to get an MoT every 12 months.

jackaleks

i\'m pretty sure you need to have a full UK driving license to register a car in your name here.

are you going to be driving the car to Italy from the UK? it might work out cheaper to have it transported as you won\'t have to pay for MOT and tax (not to mention petrol).

Last time, in 11/2007 I have payed 1000€ from Essex to Italy in an artic, car+spare parts. Gefco, for the car alone, had ask me the same price.
If I drive the car in IT are about 1100km: divide by 7km/l fuel consumation * 1.2€ for litre of gasoline + boat + sleep one night in France + some extra, if my new \'7 don\'t leave me alone on the road, I think no more than 400€ :)

You have some info better? Some transport there?

Buy yourself a cheap low-loader / pickup that already has mot etc :D

Still have the fun of registering it, but at least it should be taxed / MoT\'d, and may? be cheaper to drive back to italy...

that said, probably not much cheaper, and less fun to drive :(

Up for this discussion...
How much could cost a one year MOT? Normally, could came in every moments or must ask before go to the check?

Morning Davide, Best to ask the MOT Centre what there price is before you book the test. I pay £40 for mine, at a test centre who\'s seen the car every year for the last 12 or 13 years. Top price  I would expect in London, maybe £60 but I\'m not near London. (Anyone else on here know London prices?).
Of course if there are problems on the car causing it to fail you will get a failure notice and have to either get the test centre to repair or take the car to a specialist for repairs. You may be better just going for an MOT and seeing what happens - if it fails the test then that gives you breathing space to decide with your sister what to do next?
There is something else called advisories, but these mean that the tester will tell you something needs sorting out soon, for example a tyre is legal for the test but will soon be worn down. I think advisories are good things, other people may not like them. Doesn\'t matter really - shouldn\'t cause concern if you get one.
Does that answer problem?

I think it should be the same everywhere?
http://www.mottest.net/

The test looks at:
Registration plates, Vehicle Identification Number, Steering, Brakes, Horn
Lights, Bonnet Catch, Doors, Vehicle structure, Seats, Seat belts, Windscreen, Mirrors, Suspension, Exhaust system, Fuel system,Tyres and wheels

Not much you can check on some bits but you can fix obvious things before it goes in.
Failures are for safety items which are broken or will not last 12 months (next test)
Advisories are things that will \'probably\' need fixing in the next 12 months (before next test)

Thanks! I\'ve also ask to GEFCO, if you need transport in Europe, try to ask them.
From UK to Italy (but just few ports) about 350€... A very good price for me.
