hi,when i first start my egi there seems to be allot of white smoke coming from the exhaust,i know they run rich on start up and it has been rather cold recently and ive just put it down to condensation.
After it has reached its running temp of about 160 fahrenheit there appears to be no smoke what so ever coming from the exhaust. It dosent apper to be using any coolant and theres no mayo under the cap,is this normal for a cold start?? thanks

err, mine does that, sounds fine to me.

When you turn the car off you usually get water left in the exhaust, and some in the combustion chambers. When you start up the engine, it takes a while for all of the water to evaporate. Basically if it doesn\'t smoke once its been run for a bit you should be fine.

Try taking off the rad cap, filling till you can see the water, then get someone to crank the engine without the egi fuse, if you get bubbles apearing you could have a water seal leak. From what you\'ve said you sound fine. Both of mine do it, and one has 20k on a rebuild with new housings.

i still check them all the time though :P

There should only be a bit of blue/black smoke when it starts up which then goes, with is the oil/running rich, anything else, there will be issues!

Really depends on people\'s definition of "a lot". If you can\'t see anything behind when you start up, that\'s bad. :rollin

yeah its hopefully being taken apart for a rebuild at the end of the year by rx motors,im going to try and hopefully concentrate on handiling and appearance mods at the moment, like i say it runs fine and dosen\'t use coolant.just wanted to put my mind at ease.cheers

Mine also does this on start up.. after about 5 mins though it\'s fine.

mine originally didnt use coolant and there was still lots of smoke (whiteish) on start and lots of fuel smell...

i guess best thing is jus cross you fingers and hope for the best til end of year :)
if its gonna go then its gonna go =/

yea true might as well just enjoy it.Looking to start by adding some coilovers from driftworks as ive heard they\'re the dogs, also found this-

apparently it will fit my egi and it comes with a silencer bung which i expect ill need lol.

dthebuk

dam coils from driftworks, you gunna be drifting then?

drift FC\'s are the way to go!
