Had occasional problems recently with starting my FD - very slow turn over and took a good few sceonds to fire. this was put down to it needing a new starter motor.
another starter motor was installed but now it wont start under its own power.
With the ignition on everything electrical works, battery runs at correct voltage and was being charged when the car was running as suspicion was a dud battery but i removed it, put it on charge and it was fully charged in a minute or 2. i even tried a new battery but that didnt start it either.

all i get when i turn the key is a very very slow dull noise as if it wants to turn over but hasnt got the guts. it basically sounds like the battery is flat but i know it isnt.
strangely though it did start last week with the help of a powerful jump starter and then driven for about 30mins but the following day i tried it as normal and nothing happened.

anyone got any suggestions for things i can check?

Maybe try checking all the earths are well grounded? I remeber i fitted a started motor to a Pug 309 but couldn\'t be arsed checking all the bolts and earths were secure. Tried it and it wouldnt start like its batt was flat. Checked the above and it worked.

Give it ago, might as well.

Yeah, check all earths, and confirm connections on the starter.

cheers - i\'ll get underneath and have a good look tomorrow. hope its something simple and straight-forward like a bad earth as the car is starting to get to me a bit now

have a look mate, even though its a new starter motor it could still be faulty, and the battery even new ones can still be faulty, also when you get it started get the altinator tested along with the battery, theres nothing left on that drains the battery is there?

just the alarm but that was installed a year ago in august and only had this problem in last few months.

all connections to the new starter motor seem fine but i went out to look at it the other day and the dash lights were really dim and there wasnt enough juice to turn the lights on. tried jump starting it from another car but still wouldnt start.
Went back out again today and there was nothing at all when i turn the key - no sound no lights nothing. took the battery out put it on charge but apparently its fully charged.
So i connected up a jump starter unit and immediately all the electrics were working but still the car wont start. just an initial \'click\' when you try the first time then after that nothing at all.
it was fine during the 1000 mile run in but since it went back to be mapped, and have boost controller and starter motor fitted it hasnt worked. trouble is now its at home and i cant start it, i cant take it back to have it seen to.
looks like i need to sort it out myself so i desperately need some help...
