I think the car just needs something.  The big wings are just not right for the car.  Take a look at the 98 type RZ wing.  It is like a small whales tail.  I think that type look good.  Anyway keep us posted as to what you decide.

Dr-rotor,

What fenders and front bumper do you have?

Looks reallly nice :Thumbsup!

...if your RX is for cruising around the ice cream shop and impressing the ladies, the you don\'t need a rear wing.

If you use your RX-7 for what it\'s made for (going fast on street/highways, or some quartermiles) then it\'s impossible to drive it hard without a wing and stay dry in your pants. The RX need downforce, as without any diffusors/wings he is very light at high speeds, i would never go without. The standard wing has improved over the years, so the \'99Spec is a very good option, andlooks nice, too.

Higher rear wings can improve that downforce as good as diffusors, but that depends on where you use the car... :)

^^^^^  ((why would you need a wing for the 1/4 mile unless you\'ve over 1000 hp, and crossing the line at over 300mph...??))

IF you\'re using the car for track use, then totally agree.  It\'ll only start to come into it\'s own at higher speeds, and those are the kind of speeds on the road that you shouldn\'t be doing, imho.  Even if you\'re \'driving enthusiastically\', you shouldn\'t be cornering at anywhere NEAR the kind of speeds where the downforce of any wing will start to make a difference.  On the motorway at over a ton, the downforce will do little more than drag, as there are NO bends of significance.  If you\'re going down a country lane at below 80, the wing really won\'t make a difference (other than drag again).  So on 99% of road legal RX7\'s it\'s a pointless appendage with as much impact as a greddy sticker on the side.

...imho.

metalCORE

...yeah, you\'re right.

...but i\'ve heard from people with S14\'s driving on our highways will make a difference from 200km/h and above. The RX-7 has less downforce on the rear than an S14, because of his sloping rear, i hope you know what i mean.

And, trust me, in our area (Berlin and around) we\'re driving fast often, most of our Autobahn in this area is unlimited... :D

So, thats what i want to say. In germany you\'re kind of pussy when you have a high powered car and no wing, because anybody knows that you\'re not driving hard, hahaha... ;)

Archbish

^^^sorry, I didn\'t see the Germany bit...  And you have the best track days.  But round hampshire, a wing is definitely a decoration!!

i think its probably one of the best looking rx7\'s anywhere.....pretty much spolierless asdies from that lip.....

jackaleks

^^ that\'s one of the shine auto demo cars isn\'t it?

love the combination of that boot lip and diffuser.

Nik da Greek

That diffuser in the pics Gyles posted up is, IMHO, the only one that doesn\'t look totally awful on an FD. Every other one looks like a random bent bit of plastic tat tacked on as an afterthought, whereas the early model Amemiya one looks like it was actually designed to intergrate with the lines of the car, and thus actually looks like it should be there, not like the car\'s run over some roofing sheets in the road and got them stuck under the rear end....

Won\'t expect anyone else to agree with my inane rantings, but that\'s my 2ps worth :)

jackaleks

tend to agree with Nik, although this one (the Shine car I was thinking about above) looks seriously sexy:

im thinking of that diffuser for mine. ive got a 99spec rex and i think that would go pretty well..... its very simple and like you say, keeps the line of the car.....

Well i know my Rex gets a little twitchy at high speed but i think a diffuser will sort that out. i think im gonna stay wingless as i looks nice on my car and i dont want to end up looking like a tit with a massive great dirty drift spoiler if i only track the car once a year. lol

Still hoping to add a the scoot style bonnet and some nice sideskirts (hopfully same as dr rotors if i can find them.
