Quote from: syebba;744754I thought u loved capri\'s Ian?
Or you had enough of them!

I loved \'em in my late teens and early 20\'s but sold my last one before I bought my 1st RX7.
About 3 1/2 years ago, I was looking for a project and bought an absolute ruin of a Capri to restore.
It made me realise how basic and cheaply built they were.... a real marketing triumph for Ford.... a cheap car that sold like hot cakes.

I had to force myself to finish the car because I just didn\'t like it...
Everything about it seemed old fashioned.... leaf spring rear suspension, 70\'s Ford dash, crap build quality...

even the gear lever was like something out of a truck!

they make 1st gen RX7\'s seem like the Starship Enterprise.... never go back they say.... I wish I\'d never had!

I\'ve never been in a Capri, only ever seen them from the outside, but to me as a young\'un they almost seem a decade behind the Rx7, hard to believe they came from the same time!

Its amazing how much the FD moved it on too, that was only a decade later.

The FB can be so much fun :D

Fun sounds good!

I\'m very very very much looking forward to my first drive, more than a few hundred yards up a straight farm track, in an FB. I think about it every time I go out and work on the car :)

Quote from: Casey;744665OK, the RPM might be interested in this one, if no-one else is up for saving it?

Does anyone know any previous history on the car? I\'m planning to call the seller soon to get some more info.

Not me Casey sorry, first sighting was in the original Gumtree Ad in January.

As said by previous peeps, make certain you take a good look at the sills at the back and the reinforcing plates in the rear wheel arches.

I had a Scorpio engine once, and it was excellent - mind you it was in a Scorpio.

A 2.9V6 would be better than the engine in my Leyland tractor....

It has a 1500cc Diesel MGB engine....

The BMC 1.5 is a great little lump, been powering narrowboats for the past 30 odd years.
If you have any trouble with yours I know them inside out !
