I guess it\'s the no MOT or tax thing that\'s scaring people off. I always feel a little bit like if the MOT has just run out and its only the very minor things stated in the advert, why not chuck it through a test! Maybe the seller knows a reason why it wont pass...?

quite right!  but at 400 quid it\'s now in the resto territory so surely someone will take it on soon... hope so.

That\'s a massive price drop £800>£400.
It looks like a tidy car,not much visible rust.

syebba

Have to say.
Useless pics,only 2 & a muddy car is\'nt helping,& gumtree!
Should try pistonheads, classic car,or last resort ebay.

captainbizzaro

It\'s white therefore I want it. There better be a white standard S2 for sale once Nev is finished that\'s all I can say!

myatt1972

Youre right, you cant beat a 1st gen in white!

Not sure that\'s the type of white car he means, does nothing for me, the rear end sucks ..........

Seems a very cheap car to me.

.

OK, the RPM might be interested in this one, if no-one else is up for saving it?

Does anyone know any previous history on the car? I\'m planning to call the seller soon to get some more info.

If it is a runner, an the MOT was just a lapse, not a major failure, then we might go and take a look. If so, I\'ll be seeking some advice from you expert 1st Gen guys on what we should be looking for (e.g. rust in sills, wheelarches, under carpets, plus mechanical stuff to check....) :god

Although we are happy to spend some sensible money on getting the car up to scratch, we don\'t want to take on a money "black hole" :)

Ad says it runs well, though choke is,nt working.
No mention of mileage?
Check it starts from hot & cold & look for rust everywhere.

When i look at cars,it\'s usually not pratical to lift carpets,i always jack the car up,slide in some axle stands & have a damn good look & poke around.

If the owners reduced from £800>£400,they sound desperate to get rid of it,maybe a cheeky offer £275?

Steve-A

Take a look in mine and Cliff\'s thread for rust issues. The main areas to watch for are the back edge of the sills and upper rear suspension links, where they join the underside of the rear seats.

It\'s G8 that your saving a few more Fb\'s,numbers are dwindling rapidly.
There at ridiculously low prices at the moment,so if you can get a good one,it\'s a good time to buy.
ta stu..

Casey

Many thx for the advice and encouragement. Just phoned the number in the advert - no reply, but left a message.

BTW, anyone know what happened to the Opal Green 1st Gen in Croyden advertised for £2,500? I spoke to the seller, made an offer (subject to inspection) and said I wouldn\'t chase, but to call me back once he\'d mulled it over. No response.....

When we eventually get a car, I suspect we are going to need a lot of help from you 1st Gen guys who\'ve trodden the path before us. Being as all the RPM are RX-8 owners, a 1st Gen isn\'t going to be too familiar to us! Happy to learn along the way - probably the hard way :Hammer
