Well Hi Guys, it has been a while....

Sorry to have been away (learning to windsurf on a Greek island, coming back to a panic at work, working 12 hour days etc...), but I see you have been having plenty of fun without me.

You will I hope be happy with me that our Elford passed its MOT and is back on the road.

New front disks (£64 from your friendly Unipart Automotive branch), new pads front and rear (£25 ditto) plus £45 of welding. Not bad for a 28 year old car that has been parked up for 5 years! (though I am a bit worried about perished tyres...).

I took it for a drive for the first time in 5 years and was amazed all over again at how nice these RX7\'s are to drive. Plenty powerful enough for me, amazing visibility compared to a modern car (thin windscreen pillars, low dashboard line, low boot line). Not so pleased with the door mirror -singular on an S2 - so I was interested to read past comments about Austrailian versions. I was also surprised / pleased at the reaction of two other drivers who waved (no, not two fingers..) and generally indicated that they thought it was interesting / pretty car - which it is!

Took it up to Ian last week so he could look at the Elford wiring / solenoids. Thanks for a very pleasant afternoon and cup of tea Ian! Can anyone confirm what the "ETL" box actually does? We think it controls the slow dim on the interior light and might act as a rev limiter but nothing else - which doesn\'t sound right. Anybody know different?.

By the bye, Ians cars are amazing!. The work he does on them is beautiful. My embarrassment at having to open the bonnet on ours.... maybe I will do some restoration over the winter....

Anyway, thanks for your forum - most enjoyable. How do you guys find the time to both type and work on cars?

Bye.
John

@Stu I think a lot went unsold, still with their vendors? I do keep details (you would expect no less now would you guys)?

So If anyone needed to back track on a car they fancied I would hope I could help.

@ Johnnyboy  Finding Time, it helps to.....1) be Retired and..... 2) do next to no travelling about.....wears yer car out and means repairs man    :eek

Was good to hear John that Rex went through MOT despite requiring a few jobs - keep \'em on the road I say.
Totally agree with you about that special feeling of being behind the wheel a following an absence - mine was over 21 years when I bought JAZ in March this year and found it quite hard having a further 7 months of frustration before being able to drive again - blissfull, these\'s no other feeling like it.
Typing and working mate?  I think its the \'friendship\' and helping others that drives us to this - well it is for me, it\'s not a chore at all!
