That is correct, the gov abolished the 25 year old tax exempt status & fixed a date 1973.

Never ceases to amaze me how ill informed some peeps are, would have taken him 30 secs to google it & as for the rotary being a torquey engine?

Quote from: A7RXY;724696No I think all cars have to be pre 1973 to be exempt. I bet the other car he talks about in his write up was black.

That\'s a very astute observation Dibbs!  How come I didn\'t think of that?!
Accounts for the \'glass roof\' then!

Thanks for all the congrats guys, loved doing all the work and definitely worth it - yes by the way, the drive is how I remembered, fantastic.  It\'s also so special to see so many people ogling as you drive along or sit waiting in traffic.  These cars are still eye catching.  Lets get more of them back in roadworthy condition I say.

Yeh spot on Dibs, any vehicle manufactured before 1st Jan 1973 is tax exempt. Of cause this would have continued but for b***dy politicians realising more and more people were restoring the older vehicle and they would loose revenue so they scrapped this in 1998.
Surely sometime in the future they\'ll have to do a U turn on this scheme?

Quote from: David Nock;724664Great News Cliff!! Raining Mate....GET JAZ UNDER COVER!!!!

I\'ve moved JAZ into Roadgoing/Rally..............25 Series 2 cars in there.

in SORN/Project..........................................39 Series 2 cars

and in Unknown (No Reg)..............................7 Series 2 cars

There has been next to no change in the numbers of all the Series 1,2,3 over the last few weeks. Something tells me it will be spring again before we see the numbers moving much again.

Thanks for the undated figures Dave, must admit I\'m very proud to be no. 25 on this prestigious listing.

Damn weather has been very good for me this year but should have known it would rain (actually not just rain it has b****y poured down here all day) and yes JAZ is now under cover - don\'t want her shrinking after all my hard work.

Sure did Ian  :D:D - enjoyed restoring JAZ so much that I thought, why not.  So I\'ll be picking her up this weekend - now project no. 3, shall have to think of a name for her.

Have watched this restoration with interest, pleased for you to be so happy, Jaz is now even better than the last time I saw it, so glad it did not end up forgotten in a corner.
