Series 3 ............Roadgoing 47.......SORN/Project 87..........Unknown/No Reg 20

Series 2.............Roadgoing 24....... SORN/Project 40.........Unknown/No Reg 6

Series 1.............Roadgoing 5..........SORN/Project 15.........Unknown/No Reg 3

That\'s as of today.....

There\'s a lot of help gone into this compilation though - people sending me emails & PM\'s, people trawling the bay and elsewhere - people getting out to talk to strangers - even now Tim\'s at death\'s door with his leggies all stung by nettles whilst I just sit here pushing buttons.
But the task does suit me as I find it fascinating...
Well weird or what?

Dave.

Can I just say "Thanks" for your efforts.

Your figures - and in fact this entire thread - have been a real pleasure to read. Thanks again.

Quote from: CHC;720057Good Luck for tomorrow John.
Are you driving to Greek Island to celerbrate?

Cliff

Thank you for the suggestion, but I think you must be confused about the meaning of the word "island". Also I have just had to pay £45 for welding - goodness knows what the salt water would do to the poor little thing.
As an aside I could mention that I did once drive to Greece (in 1976...) and I can tell you that it was a very, very long way.....

Quote from: johnnyboy;720054I will look forward to it - but not next week \'cos I will be sunning myself on a greek island... Tough job I know, but somebody has to do it.

  Hi John

What Island you off to ?, As I\'m off to Rhodes the week after, as for the drive there, its one I\'ve been putting off for years........

ta stu

Cheers for that Stu - must admit I\'ve never actually looked specifically in the parts section as I\'ve previously found everything I\'ve needed/wanted.
Anyway noted and being watched as of now.

Sorry John, was only jesting, my point being your car goes for MOT today (how did you get on?) and off for holiday next week - put both together with a celebration for an MOT pass, so either the chunnel or car ferries etc; perhaps it was a little late last evening.

Quote from: Ian65;719837Is the overall trend for road going cars up or down over the last 12 months?
76 known cars seems very low

I did a run through on DVLA of every known Reg a month or so back (call it the summer list if you like) and that\'s when the known road goers were last confirmed.

In the middle of winter, when I checked it the previous time there were quite a few less roadgoing.

So the flow is up and down, summer winter with this sort of car, as you\'d expect.....the trend for all categories except unknowns is still very gently upwards though with new finds appearing roughly weekly. Unknowns are VERY slowly being put into a correct category as they get sold on and the Reg pops up.

Quote from: CHC;719873So it would seem that it was solely an S3 colour with a maximum of 21 in one form or another ...... hmmmm maybe 1 day I\'ll look at picking one up if I can.

As said by many others Dave, this listing is a credit to you and your many deputies and you must be congratulated for your dedication to the cause.

Out of curiosity then, what is the most common colour for the 1st gens and secondly is there a localised area where most cars can be found ?

Cliff

Thanks Cliff....\'Deputies\'?....well Ian would almost certainly have launched this list if I hadn\'t beaten him to it...Plus all the other mates are really full fledged saddo Reg collectors in there own rights. They just don\'t know it yet.

Colours seem to be a fair spread across the available choices for each, with maybe Red edging it.

As for a localised area, very definitely. The 1st Gen has had a very Southern customer base with the South of England/South East having many more cars than Northern Areas. Least represented seems to be Wales.
County by County it\'s thrown by \'The Dorset Massive\'. That\'s Tim White at RX motors who keeps a yard full on the stocks.:2eek

I\'m sending you the latest location list Cliff, I\'ve got your email. As always there\'s no confidential data, only location by area and a colour.
Excel file precludes PM\'ing to you.
Anyone else would like the October Location list just let me have an email address....dgnock at btopenworld dot com

Quote from: gnj37;719952Me again the fuses that are at your right knee beside bonnet opening lever aside is there any more main fuses as i have lost power to the alternator  i was touching wires and must of blown one i have also checked the fuse links at ns strut tower they seem to be OK or i have i done it wrong i assume that the wire loop is the fuse and ideas gary

So far as I know only the main fuse box at drivers knee and the fusible links at the N/S strut tower. As Shaun, the fusible links are slow blow fuses.

Maybe blown a diode in the alternator? I think there must be a control circuit inside there?

Quote from: RamoNZ;720051Not sure if this one is known, but in this weeks classic car weekly magazine:

Reg blanked and no mileage but sounds a bargain! In the picture it looks more blue like mine so it must be quite light green if there was such a thing?

Got it thanks Ramo, It\'s Reg was in one of the ads earlier this Autumn. Didn\'t have the landline contact though...Ta...

1986 car ....I think it\'s bound to be the Opal Green Metallic as there were only 6 body colours to choose from on S3. Sometimes the camera/light alters the colours a bit.
