i\'ve noticed not many owners, well on here anyway don\'t want to change the standard alloys for aftermarkets, the wheels must be nice looking then!
What i like about s3 wheels is the highly polished outer lip & polished centre with painted inserts, more interesting than a dull grey alloy wheel.
owners of Fc\'s & fd\'s always seem to ditch their standard wheels.

it says refurbished wheels but they don\'t look like yours or Stu\'s do they.... ?unless it\'s just the photo.

The reason i questioned magnesium alloy is i was told it was lighter & stronger than standard alloy wheels,i had magnesium alloys on a cobra replica & they cost a fortune![image wheels told me this]
The Fb wheels are fairly robust,it,s the lacquer that goes, then the white corrosion sets in under the lacquer.

could be just the pic,but the wheels look like they\'ve been powdercoated all over, they should have a high sheen to them, like daves & mine, still thats easily sorted.

That\'s right, they are.
Remember the pepperpots and the RS 7 spokes that they put on the Capris?
The last car I restored was a Capri 2.8 injection special and the alloys, like nearly all old Capri alloys, were as porous as hell.
The tyres used to slowly deflate due to the porous alloy.
You don\'t get that problem with 1st gen wheels.

I\'m pretty sure capri pepperpots are the same as those on the elford turbo, both made by wolfrace.
Ford cheapskated on various items, porous wheels & really annoying, they could,nt even fit the same size door mirrors on mk3 capri\'s,the passenger side was smaller than the other side!

Ian65

I think that the Elford used genuine Wolfrace and Ford used a pattern wheel.
They may have used Wolfrace for the prototypes but once they went into mass production, they used a similar wheel but non genuine I think.
I know that it\'s hard to get non porous Ford pepperpots these days.

My first Ser 1 had Elford wheels, and they were Wolfrace

Did you put those on Dibs or were they on when you bought it?
The series 1....... takes me back!

I think I have said somewhere before, it was a ser 1 unsold by Richard Knight Cars when the ser 2 came out, so they jazzed it up with the wheels and coachline and good discount, if memory serves me right £7750, to sell it and along came me and could not resist it, that was in 81, sold it in 83 for the deposit for the house I\'m still in today.

Just been googling, the capri 2.8i did use wolfrace sonic pepperpots[not copies] the same as the elford turbo.
Wonder if the stud patterns the same as well?

my 2.8i had Ford stamped sonic / pepper pots, not Wolfrace

i looked on retro motors,won\'t let me take a link off,but has full specs for the 2.8i capri.[my guess is ford started using wolfrace, then cheapskated & got copies done]

Yeah,
I think that\'s about right. I think they made some minor variations and then just knocked out thousands themselves. Ford were always looking to cut costs and dress up cars as performance models on the cheap, why pay for Wolfrace when you can make your own cheap version?
Getting back to the 1st gens, I like all 3 versions of the factory wheels, I reckon each suits its respective model really well.

 Now on Ebay

Back on ebay. Paul\'s (riber3) on here.
If the previous form on this motor is anything to go by I think the reserve will be quite high.
