C311 Previously Barons Auctions 2008 and Amberley Autojumble 2007. Has an Export Flag against it on DVLA so interesting that it\'s not gone anywhere as yet. Will watch out for it as it goes back to Auction.

Quote from: mooragerx7;647262is there any way to find out a engine number from a reg no.?
No way that I know of; it\'s not picked up in the VIN either. The original V5 for the car will give the engine number as fitted when it left the factory but so many exchanges take place in these older cars that I have ignored any engine number information so far.

It first came to my notice from your blog. I will note to keep an eye on the reg now to see if anyone else comments on the Diplomatic connection. (By the way ratbag Diplomats didn\'t usually have to pay parking fines so any old tickets under the seats you can throw away:Thumbs-up).
UW was issued as a London plate when registered in 1988 so that fits, the car itself seems to have been built in 1984.

Ah is that engine a 12A or a 13B? In the latter case you really should tell DVLA and your insurance company to make sure you\'re properly covered. No engine number might be a problem. I\'m sure someone must have a way forward? Like a clever way of reading the number?

its just another little 12a i can read the frist 2  or 3 numbers but not the rest

any one help??

David Nock (RIP)

Make your best attempt to read the numbers and just have a stab at what the numbers look like. For a straight 12A to 12A swop I doubt anyone at DVLA or Insurance Company will be bothered provided you try your best at reading them.
2003983 it looks like to me.

The 1st four nos look like 2003,last nos looks like 3 as well.
Try cleaning it up a bit more with a wire brush, then give the area a quick spray with red paint, then lightly rub off to reveal the numbers, the paint should sit in the numbers.
