Quote from: Ian65;679238Hi Cliff,
welcome to the forum...

Do you mean the drivers/ owners manual ( that shows you where the controls etc are...)

Widely available on ebay for under a tenner

or the workshop manuals to help you work on your car

Haynes..... very good

Clymer.... also very good, good troubleshooting sections

Mazda factory manual.... ok, but tends to be \'unbolt faulty part and replace\', rather than fix.

These are all available on ebay for under 10 quid.

See page 17 of this thread for a tutorial I put up about putting photos onto the forum.
Nice series 2 by the way, I always liked the white 1st gens.

Cheers,
Ian

Hi Ian, Yes I mean the drivers/owners manual explaining where everything should be and their intended purpose, have already purchased the Haynes Manual (1st book I buy for any vehicle).  Appreciate your reply and shall keep an eye on ebay - don\'t really want to but an american version in case of variations.  Like the sound of the Clymer - think this shall be a definite.

Quote from: David Nock;679490Hi Cliff, VLE 990X.
This is an Odd One indeed. DVLA throws up a Mazda yes, but 6546cc!! Wow, some motor.
DVLA says 1979 car but 1st Reg here in 1981, so presume an Import.

Also last car colour Red. Not been licensed since 1993 so presume it\'s gone to heaven.

So....deduction time.... was it a Series 1, imported in \'81 and with a 2546cc engine???? i.e.13B (DVLA having mistyped the engine size). Resprayed Red between 1987 (you) and last keeper in 1993?

Interesting one.
Any more info Cliff?
Hi David, firstly thank you for coming up with details so quickly.
Yes it was a 1979 Mark 1 Series 1 with a 2546cc engine imported approx 1981.  Cannot remember if it were a 13B engine but it came in fully loaded including AC which for an early model was quite something then.  Before and through my ownership it remained in bright yellow - I even remember doing body repairs and a total re-spray from top of door height to the skirts in my garage - bright yellow.  It must have been re-coloured after I passed it on 1988/89 - it\'s a shame to hear that it probably never reached a good age but I suppose not everybody is dedicated like us.  Will post some pics when I find them.  Regards.  Cliff

Looks nice though, doesn\'t it?

There can\'t be many unmolested 1 owner cars left now, especially series 2\'s.
Was that Clarion stereo standard fitment in a series 2?  I\'ve only ever seen them in series 3\'s

.

I had a series 2 with what I think was a clarion, it also had a seperate amplifier all original.

Morning Dave, nice to speak to you and thanks for the welcome.  Actually bought this via eBay a few weeks ago on a whim - but my god was I surprised when I picked her up.  She is still in a tidy condition but does need some TLC and a few smallish jobs to revive her to former glory.  Am a former RX7 enthusiast and really glad to be reunited to this niche family group.  Regards Cliff

Morning Ian - nice looking rex.  I picked up an 83 S2 with little under 61K & 3 previous owners 2 wks ago - not quite as good condition but aim to equal yours.  Not sure about my stereo but am 99.9% positive that mine isn\'t the original.  Regards Cliff

im sure that they are the orginal stereo as that is the same as the one in my loft and the only type i have seen in the rx7 it is a clarion one isnt it? if so the speakers should match it all being clarion too as mine were

Exactly the same Clarion is fitted to the S2 83 Model I bought.

Sadly this doesn\'t belong to me Cliff, I put it on the thread in case David had missed it and he could check it off against his list.

How much to polish the wheels like yours Ian? I think they look great :)

All factory fitted stereos for the 1st gens were Clarion but the one in the photo is the later version fitted to later cars.
Most series 2 cars had the old style stereos with \'spindles\' for the volume and tuning not the later DIN type
I\'ve had a few series 2 centre console plastics and had to cut the stereo hole out to suit a modern DIN stereo.

ohh this jogged my memory a bit, do you mean a equaliser insted of amplifier? i remember having one years and years ago with a dated system that looked origional and it did have an equaliser of the same brand as the stereo and speakers .....?????
