Quote from: Ian65;772469interesting stuff... what boost were you running on the Elford setup with the JMD engine?

it was my cousins car (female) so it was standard boost
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

And a long advertised car, this time on classiccarsforsale.

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/141035

I have mixed feelings for the seller of this car.....so much work and effort has gone into this. But unable to sell and years have gone by. Must be soul destroying.

My other feelings are that it\'s such a clash with the principle of preserving what Mazda set out to create in the beginning.

Sorry mate, hope something comes up for you in the exchange line.

it\'s a sad fact that you never get your money back if you spend loads on a classic car... not to mention your time.

i remember going to look at an old e class merc with my father as at the time he was wanting one and the owner didn\'t have a full battery so couldn\'t start her.
anyway we chatted in his garage or large shed as he had a few vauxhall corsas all boy racered up with recaro seats etc. the owners had spent thousands on them, lexus lights and sound systems, you know the tesco carpark crowd etc. he was selling them for a couple of grand, morale of the story they got the enjoyment out of it and moved on to something else.

this owner will have to do the same as what he thought was cool to do, doesn\'t appeal to everyone. i just don\'t get people putting cylinder engines into rotary cars as surely the rx cars are designed with the rotary engine in mind?

you may not get your money or time back, but you should enjoy the fact you have put a classic car back on the road and amongst the hum drum of modern cars, your classic will stand out and turn a few heads and bring back some memories for those who recognise what they see driving past them, surely that\'s priceless :)

I agree Ronnie, it is\'t about the money....
I\'ve spent thousands on classic cars over the last 20 or so years, restoring and enjoying them and have \'lost\' ££££\'s doing so....
but the money doesn\'t matter to me, it\'s what I enjoy doing and the pleasure I get from the cars makes it all worthwhile.

Problem is, when you come to sell, you can only get what the market will stand and in the case of a rotary car that\'s had a piston engine put into it, it\'s anything but priceless...the market is very tough at the moment.

The heart ( and in my view, the whole point) of an RX7 is the rotary engine...
if you\'re going to take that out, you might as well buy a pistoned engined car in the first place.
This red car is a one off and may find a buyer at any time.... at 5 grand though, it\'s a lot of bread.

rx stands for rotary experimental, so an rx car is designed for the rotary engine.
this car will not make the asking price, its been around for a while and looks nice except you read about the piston engine and then your interest goes.

now if it had a cosmo 3 rotor engine then it would be worth the money or near to it.
the owner will end up letting it go at half or less than half of the asking price, not much cash about thanks to our government :) 5 grand alot for a car like this.

Rivalrx

If this car was original as it came out of the dealer then that price is great. It had a piston engine in it and the body has been altered too much in my opinion. Don\'t get me wrong, I hope it finds a new owner but I highly doubt it for that price.

It\'s kind of like Michael Jackson - been altered so much it is doesn\'t resemble the original which was much better.

Piston into a rotary...

This is a concept I will never get my head around as it\'s that engine that makes them so so special.

wow, its like FB heaven isn\'t it. you wait for one and several come along.
all coming out of the woodwork now, the silver interior looks nicer than the grey of the dark blue or what ever colour it is, but both look tidy inside and out.

if both been stored wonder how the underneath looks?
better inside a container than sitting in the rain outside i suppose.

I\'m guessing its been sold, one day it was missing from its usual place and the next day it returned... But now its gone for good. Hopefully to a good home, i guess that kinda proved the engine was in working order.

Both a bit scruffy underbonnet but if I\'d been sitting in a container for yonks I\'d be a bit scruffy.

I like the Blue one quite a bit. Good history and all that. The Reg is not the one you can buy (thought not).

I\'m sure the Blue one is the one advertised in Ainsdale this April.....It was on carandclassic.....no pics or Reg. but the description is the same.

Ainsdale and now on a friend\'s ebay located in Southport....yes that makes a good match
