Quote from: syebba;740119At the risk of upsetting some folks i think there\'s enough room for modded & stock Fb\'s in a club, but obviously if a car is mint it\'s a shame/crime to mod it!

Certainly I agree. Some cars are too good to butcher, and good clean original cars will always look good and feel great.

While other more used and abused cars can see a new lease of life when modded. Rusted arches don\'t matter when you\'ve cut them out for over arches, and mouldy carpets don\'t matter when you\'re removing them, if the 12a has died then there\'s no harm in swapping for a 13bt etc etc.

Quote from: SkifledanabitThe problem is, to get them to the standard of this pics I posted, it takes mega monies

I don\'t think it counts as mega money. The change on those cars that makes the biggest impact is the wheel choice, arches and ride height. After market springs/coilovers are no more expensive for FBs than FCs or FDs, fibreglass over arches aren\'t expensive, which just leaves the wheels. Real classic wheels, in low offsets and big widths will always cost money. On the other hand, blaspheming as it is, people like Rota are knocking out wheels for £450 a set, copying those classic designs. If its just the look you want then look no further than the new Rota\'s (dunno what they are called) but they are Hayashi Street copies in 15x9 et0 and AFAIK the usual Rota price of around £500 for 4......

I was lucky with my 17\'s, I got with tyres for £420 all in. Just had to replace a single wheel and that cost £130 alone !

Quote from: RamoNZ;740130What is to put you off? Fairly simple to drop a 13b EGi into the babies and awa you go. If you are keep, I can help with bits tech info to make it a smooth transition - could easily be done in a day if the bits were on hand.

Didnt you run a 14s qtr in your EGI? take about 300kg off and you have a fairly nippy motor..

well remembered... it was 15s btw, I think it\'s more a case of having no disposable income at the moment, plus (as is the case with most rotaries) about finding a decent example that I could do work on over time with a limited budget.

if you do have a little guide I can read through on the swap, I can start budgeting i guess.

btw, theres a couple of FB\'s for sale on ebay you may want to check out David

*EDIT* plus I already have the overfenders sitting next to me waiting to go on :D

Quote from: Casey;740086David, thanks for the feedback!

73; thankyou, I feel positively young now  :). I\'m 50, plus some odd extra years, but I tend not to remember how many, due to memory loss..... but I\'m not the oldest, or youngest RPM member!

The RPM are currently PM\'ing ideas on the cars we\'ve seen up for sale, but help from you experienced 1st Gen lot will be invaluable once we proceed :god

We aren\'t in a rush, we\'d like to get the "right one" at the "right price", that would otherwise not find a loving home....

We\'re not really 73....that was to try and get some seniority over you younger meggahorsepower buckos.

We do have John in the York area though. He\'s 82.      :cheers  and his artificial leg gives him a bit of a clutch control problem     :eek......THIS IS NO KIDDUM, this is true.

Quote from: shaunwil;740135I\'m still considering selling up the 1st gen and getting a boring mondeo, partly for running costs but also for trailering the FD to tracks further away !

Quote from: syebba;740101I\'ll take a punt officially 1986[c reg],but some unsold stock was registered on a k plate[Think Davids Fb is on a k plate].
ta stu

There are  3 \'D\' Reg\'s that I\'ve come across,
One was registered Aug 1986, still fully roadgoing,
One registered Sept 1986, presently on SORN,
and one in N. Ireland, again August 1986, this one possibly scrapped.

(The Registration year was different then, it ran August 1st to July 31st).

Our car (Wife\'s car) is a K plate, December 1992, wharehoused unregistered for years - various reasons known mainly to B & H Mazda dealers, Barnet.

I think the production lines will have shut down in late 1985....as Ian says.

Ramonz

That\'s a good point about the Fb\'s reduced weight compared to a Fc,easily overlooked.
300kg sounds a lot,bag of cement is 25kg,that\'s 12 bags of cement!

Weight of Fb\'s in Haynes manual is listed at 1082kg
@skifledanabit,whats Haynes say the Fc weight is out of interest?

Would\'nt these arches be illegal on UK roads as they don\'t cover the tyres properly, especially the rears?
