Quote from: Ian65;719513Welcome to the joys of 1st gen ownership Steve. Looking forward to seeing what you do to this car, if your MX5 is anything to go by, it\'ll be well sorted.
It\'s a shame Ross couldn\'t get it on the road, hopefully he\'ll keep the faith and buy a MOT\'d 1st gen that he can use straight away.
Anything we can do to help.... just ask!

Cheers Ian.

I don\'t wanna step on Ross\'s toes by saying this but basically I think he bought it when he didn\'t really need a car but liked the idea of the project, then the project turned out to be more intense than he/we* had hoped and his job has moved location so he now needs an economical car to drive around in.

I hope to get it nicely sorted. At the moment the main priorities are the welding, new brake lines and a full set of bushes. Then MOT time.

After that I\'d like to fit modern dampers with lower springs (sensible performance low NOT silly VW scene low) and a nice set of retro japanses wheels. I\'d also like to go electronic ignition and fuel injection with a pair of IDA style throttle bodies via megasquirt again :)

Tim, I got my hopes up there, then realised you typed Worchester not Worcester. Shame as Worcester\'s only 5 miles up the road!

Also I think the music taste must be an FB thing, Ross\'s s2 came with a mad old blues tape in it. I think I might have to transfer my CD collection to cassette to keep the retro stereo :P

I\'m losing track of all the new fb\'s arriving here!
Hopefully their getting more appreciated & ending up in hands of enthusiasts rather than breakers.

I always considered the RX7 in light green metallic coachwork looked very dignified but am I correct in saying that there aren\'t many remaining in this shade?
Over to you Detective Nock - any latest figures available?

@John,
There was a discussion a while back if the pepperpots on Elfords were the same as those on a 2.8 capri.
Don\'t suppose you\'ve noticed Wolfrace stamped on your wheels anywhere?

Quote from: johnnyboy;719530Hi Guys. You may remember me joining a couple of weeks ago.

Well, we are almost through the MOT... (Front disks and pads, a bit of welding,  considerable fun with the emissions control until we convinced them it is old enough not to count...) and now having freed off the rear calipers I am hunting for some rear pads and then we will be away!
However, you asked for some pictures. I have never done this before so I have looked at the instructions someone published last year, but no guarantees:

Tha car was an Elford show car on the Mazda stand at the 1982 motor show, hence the snazzy paint job and graphics. My wife and I saw it there but could not have afforded it at half of the price - and so were pleased to see it for sale secondhand in 1986. We were richer by then and it was cheaper by then so we bought it. And here we are...

Enjoy..

John

Great John...well done re the buying....and thanks for figuring the posting of pics. Chocolate Box pics aren\'t they, glorious results.   :Thumbs-up
