Shame that one of the nicest threads on MRC has degenerated and that we have now a reported post from it,

Rather than suggest who may or may not have been in the wrong, I would just like you all to draw your attention to this paragraph below for future reference please that constructed in April 2008 after arguing nearly killed MRC

2. Online Behaviour

The primary change will be one of attitude â€" with respect for other club users now becoming the number 1 criteria for being part of MRC. The forum is not to be a platform to disparage others, make accusations or insinuations relating to the character or conduct of others. MRC will be more ready to pro-actively manage the content of posts seen as defamatory or aimed at promoting senseless argument amongst individuals or groups. These rules apply to everyone.

Interestingly enough Russell has had quite a few enquiries now from people who are genuinely interested in buying some of his parts.
So don\'t let some peoples comments stop you from contacting him,he is a decent and friendly chap and from what he has told me if you are a real enthusiast for these cars he is willing to negotiate prices.

Carl

Damn it!  I looked!  I tried not to! Honest to God, how I tried!!!

First of all, thanks for the support people; I won\'t embarrass you, because I\'m just that kind of guy.

I am realistic that I\'ve caused a stir with my response to comments directed at HaywardRotarys generous effort to advertise my glass sunroof panels.  That was unintentional.  I thought in my sincerity that people would think it was a bargain.  I would have been prepared to pay a lot more than three hundred, and I definitely am short of a few quid...

Several things have been sold (already I hear you cheer), subject to satisfactory collection & payment, I hasten to add.

Something to explain.  I\'m currently quite disabled with a shoulder injury and awaiting surgery, which makes getting to most of my stuff a pretty major ordeal.  I was initially just "testing the water", if you like, with the glass sunroofs.  Anyway, I\'m kind of committed now, and I did that to myself, so I only have myself to blame.  It\'s all got to go anyway, and what doesn\'t sell will be offered for free, and anything left over will go in a skip.  That\'s the way it has to be.

I\'ve also got a Black \'85 with tax & mot looking for a good home.  Open to any sensible offers.  Dent in n/s wing, lacquer lifting, rotten n/s sill, n/s/f wheel bearing beginning to go, although I\'ll probably do that.  Good mechanically... Only owned it a couple of years as a run-around.  Very Immaculate interior.  Drive away & expect no problems...  Upon observation, all the obvious restoration has been done, but under the carpets, you see that it will need attention again in the future.  That said, it will last a fair while as yet, left as it is!  In summary, it\'s a tad untidy, but mechanically very good.  A good waxing makes it look stunning from only 10feet away, so it\'s not that bad.

Regarding Ian65.  I truly don\'t understand your aggression, but peace and love man.

As for the emails, Jeremey/Matt or whatever:  Two email addresses does make you look like two people, so well done, but one IP address makes you look like one person.  Sort yourself out...  I\'m selling some old car parts, not murdering little old ladies.  Our country is at war, sign up if you want to fight.

Finally to Clive and all other members; I would like to apologise for encouraging an otherwise unnecesary conversation to escalate.  Sorry.

Anyway, I\'m sure that me and my sunroofs have caused enough of a stir.

I shouldn\'t have looked back, and won\'t be looking again! Until tomorrow...
Maybe... probably...

Good Lord, I\'ve been walking in the Dales for a couple of days and it\'s all gone Titx\'s Up.

When I\'m unduly aggressive with some one my wife brings me down to earth by saying I\'ve been \'ungracious\'. She\'s quite right of course and it really hurt\'s me when she says it.

There\'s quite a bit of ungracious posting gone on here and I for one think that\'s sad.
Ian, Russells post above is as nice as it gets and I hope you can reciprocate as only a true rotary fan can....

Jinx, please don\'t drop us...your words and wit are something else and we need them.

Russell....the lads have actually got restless, like lions not been fed, simply because they\'ve had very few new FB discoveries over the last week or so. What\'s this Black \'85, Do we know about it, What\'s it\'s  Reg mate?....

Com\'on guys, we\'re all grown ups on here. I think we can shake hands on this and agree that, as usual there are 2 viewpoints here. Not worth getting all aggro\'ed up about.

I think that it\'s time to draw a line under this sorry matter.
A regular visitors to the 1st gen section know, this isn\'t typical of the type of threads we usually have on here.
It  genuinely is a friendly place to be.
I don\'t intend to perpetuate a slanging match on the clubs open internet forum as that will benefit no one, especially the club and it\'s forum which is a great asset  for everyone to enjoy.
I do feel very strongly about the prices some vendors are charging for 2nd hand parts and I would be happy to give my reasons  via a PM or email, both of which are readily available, but as far as I am now concerned, we\'ve all had our say and that should be the end of it on the open forum.
Russell, as far as I am concerned the matter is done and dusted.
If you want to participate on the forum, which I\'m sure you would enjoy, I can assure you that my attitude towards you won\'t be any different than it is to anyone else.... we all get on great on here which is why we all stick around.
If you feel it isn\'t for you then hey, it\'s a free world.

Let\'s all start again shall we?

Quote from: David Nock;708439Don\'t shoot the messenger if it turns out to be no good, but this Gold Elford was for sale near Wembly a few times in 2009 and 2010. It has been standing for a few years. (Haven\'t all the FB\'s?). It never seemed to make its reserve.....which wasn\'t that much L18M.
The seller was called Ted and he sounded OK to me.
I still have his contact details if you\'re interested in a project. BUT WARNING, THIS COULD BE A MONEY PIT WAITING FOR SOME POOR SOUL TO FALL INTO??[/quote

David, you know if anything came of the gold Elford?

I rang the seller Ted, and left an answerphone message, but he\'s not got back to me. I think the car\'s still there but I don\'t know if anyone else has had better luck than me.

Hi there G. How\'s the car coming along? Any pics or progress updates?

Thanks, I\'ve seen the car now on the Rally site and no I didn\'t have it. It is really strange this, how few Series 1 cars there are and all the 3 Roadgoing ones seem to be in Ireland.

It\'s up to the vendor what prices he sets.
It\'s up to the buyer what their prepared to pay.

Ian65:  My intention initially was to tactfully email you, but the email link on your website doesn\'t work, so I used this website!

David Nock:  Yeah, I\'ve seen you a few times.  We got talking, more than once, at Jimmys and Billing Aquadrome I think.  I had a black TII, or a Black \'85.  I remember you as being a nice chap, and I\'m certain that your wise-wife was with you?  A very pleasant lady as I recall.  Wanna buy a glass sunroof?

The one for sale is C822 CYP - lived it\'s life Romford way I believe.  I bought it following an ebay ad\' - did a deal to "end auction early".

Hi Russ...Might have been another nice chap with wise-wife you met, \'cos we\'ve never been that far from home. But yes, I do really want a glass sunroof.
When Carl at Hayward South had the £250 one I did try to do a back - door deal with Steve, up here at Hayward North in Doncaster. I think I offered £150 for it but before I could blink it had gone for the £250 price tag.

So that straddles the fence a bit I think. Carl had a price which was supported by a quick sale, I had my top price limit which didn\'t buy the roof. It\'s as Syebba (Stu) says above - simples. But I\'ll keep watching out for your next offering with interest.

C822, Yes, I had that logged from it\'s appearance on ebay that time.....good to know where it went to.

For good measure I\'ll include your email on a list of 1st Gen spares available to people who are seeking parts. I trust that\'s OK.
