You should\'ve asked him whether that included him coming down and fitting it!

Quote from: tuanage;696966Hi i\'m new here, though i\'ve been well and truly diagnosed with rotary syndrome  :cool

i saw on page 13 of this thread there was some discussion about the first batch of cars brought to the UK. My father owns an rx7 rally car with the reg FKJ 419V, and we\'ve been doing much detective work over the years to try find the history of the car.

Tuan

Hi Tuan, Info the other way if you can help me. It\'s great when a car we thought was still running is confirmed. Last noted your car in 2004, possible also in 2007.

Your dad...is he Finton then?

You will have seen if you\'ve scanned this thread that I can only find 2 first Gen Series 1 cars on the road or (like yours) on the rally circuit. Both are in Ireland. The remaining handful are laid up - presently in resto or for future projects.

I include all of Ireland on my register. Can you give me a very rough location at all? Don\'t worry if not .....I understand not everyone wants to give that.

Thanks for the Post Dave.

Welcome back Dave! I hope you have moved my car from SORN to on road???

Also, I came across an article on Hurley motor engineering where they created a triple rotor from 12a engines, making 250 bhp. The car was BKN 377Y with what looked like and Elford kit and pepper pot alloys. Any news of it or other that had the triple rotor 18a treatment?

Yep, I\'ve moved it to road going now. That makes 44 1st Gen series 3\'s positively on the road.

BKN 377Y I\'ve got as most likely scrapped. Yellow I\'ve got down for it. No news since a magazine pic in 1988 but interestingly someone was selling an historic RX7 postcard on ebay last Autumn. It was BKN 377Y.

Quote from: RamoNZ;697914The guy in inverness tried to mug me, he wants £45 for a master cylinder, whole car cant have cost much more than that..

Yeah.... similar with me. Said he has a drivers door - £40. Asked for pics to display extent of corrosion, rcvd a pic showing area below handle with small \'bad\' paint touch up. Asked for pic of whole door - rcvd another small area showing loads of rust and another \'very bad\' paint job (looked as though somebody had been using a cat instead of a paint brush) I shudder to think what the entire door looks like. Anyhow, I didn\'t buy. Cliff

Here\'s the latest details I have for 1st Gens presently breaking Cliff.
It\'s a word file attachment.

The comments above about the Inverness seller has made me put a "Buyer Beware" tag on my breaking list. I think I still need to put all current sellers in it but I wouldn\'t want anyone to get stung by one that appears to be \'not so good\'.

Quote from: daverey;679970Hi Cliff
welcome to the forum, looked at JAZ a few years ago but couldn\'t agree a price at the time but I did think the car was one of the better ones around then.

Hi Dave, now had the privelage of owning JAZ for 3 months and have done a lot of work on her - probably something about 50% complete. If this was one of the better RX7s\' I\'d hate to see a real bad one...hmm then again, I\'d probably still throw myself at her to restore to former glory, got to admit they are super looking cars!  Cliff

Hi Cliff,
look on page 17 of this thread and you\'ll see a bit of a tutorial I put up last year, it\'s pretty straight forward

Hi Cliff
just been checking how long ago I looked at JAZ and was surprised it was about 6 years ago, probably account for the deterioration if the owner had lost interest in the car.
