They make driving home from a relaxing/sleeping nightshift sooooo much fun:3gears-rh

When pip tuned my pfc he ran enough runs to set it up to run at 0.9bar boost but the injectors were getting pretty high injector duty figures (still on stock fuelling system ) and it made a healthy 326bhp and 305lb/ft.

He advised and i was happy for him to do the tune again but to set the boost to 0.8bar instead where everything was running with a much better safety/reliability margin, even so it still produced 306bhp and 290lb/ft so i was happy to leave it at that.

But now in these cold mornings my pfc is telling me my peak boost value is always around 0.88-0.9bar and has been as high as 0.92 so no wonder the car feels quicker when the weather is bloody freezing, I guess i would be right in saying at 0.92 bar its probably laying down around 330hp and boy it feels lively:D.

It goes to show how the pfc standard boost control is pretty cack if its set to limit the boost at 0.8 but 0.92 is being achieved. Im not really complaing but its gonna feel like a dog when it gets sunny:rollin. Really glad i didnt leave it at 0.9bar though cause pretty sure running 1bar on standard fuelling would be a rotary death sentence

I can back up your findings. Mine is set up entirely stock and yet i regularly see 0.82 these days. Makes me wonder if it isn\'t worth investing in an AVCR just to try and keep the boost in check.

DR SCHNITZEL

same boat as you mate 100%, standard fuel system. .8 mapped but im seeing .82 or .84 on most runs and .94 twice.

getting a profec b, and already have walbro pump and kg secondary rail to go in with 1600s at a cost of 550 quid. should be nice and safe for my standard twins. Oh also ive just bought a rad and a to4r kit too. merry xmas to me.

Sounds like the cars even more of a beast than when you took me out for a spin on my private track bud. 330 is a very healthy figure and it\'s a good thing Pip left it at 0.8. Cant wait to get mine fitted and mapped now, just need the exhaust doing, well i\'m off from wed till Monday so hoping i\'ll find time on sat/sun to give it a whirl. I\'m actually looking forward to it.
:Laugh LOL

possible daft question - if you\'re mapped for 0.8bar (Pip done it for me as well) and you\'re peaking at greater than that, is that not dangerous? Or can you take credit for cooler intake charge and let the PFC sort out teh fuelling accordingly??
Work hard, play hard house :D

There is an air temp correction settings on the PFC, if air temps are in certain ranges it will add extra fuel, the higher boost is a symtom of the denser colder air, of course a proper boost controller like a Profec B will fix the boost spikes

I cant see how it would be much of a problem for the engine really as pip ran it first at 0.9bar and although the injector duty was high, it was far from maxxin out.

For me this suits down to the ground as its quick and reliable,

I get knock readings around 24 idle and never more than 85 when on full song or coasting the revs down.

Which im also told is very normal

Sounds like it may be worth investing in a dual solenoid controller, like a Profec B or something.
