Hey again. Ive finally got my 3rd gen, Type R, Manual :) Also in quite a limited colour, Bright metallic yellow, aka Mazda Competition Yellow. Im looking to fit a dump valve/twin dump valves if possible. Does anyone know the procedure for this? Will a standard group A dump valve fit? Eg a Baileys type? Ive also been told, the best mod to do is to change the stock exhaust which the car currently has. Does anyone know the true power gains of this and is reliability sacrificed? Im trusting someone can give some good advice as you guys seem to have done before,

Cheers,

Paul:D

hey a mate, exhaust does make a big difference on a rotar.
dump valve?? is that what i call a bov (blow off valve).
rx3 whats that??

hey sim, yes a dump valve is a bov

Paul, depending on what part of the exhaust you replace will depend on what power gains and reliability trade offs you get
.

Cat back system = 15 bhp gain
down pipe = not sure of bhp gain BUT you need an aftermarket ecu
Full system = 30-35bhp BUT you MUST  get an ecu, fuel cut defencor and an eletronic boost controller(and ear plugs lol;)  )

when you upgrade the exhaust you could get an intake system for it 10bhp gain and possibly raise the boost to 11psi.

However before rushing out to buy all this speak to an expert, reworx are often recomended as a good source for tuning.
