right the v mount kits on the way and im ginna be fitting it my self :2eek ive fitted new radiators on cars before and bled the systems, but havent done it in a rex before, the coolant needs changing any way, so just 2 questions

How do i bleed and refill the coolant system without getting any airlocks or bubbles that may cause over heating?

Also where do i refill the coolant system from as there are 3 caps that look like you put the coolant in?

cheers guys

once the systems drained remove the water pipe at the top and back of the plenum, and only fill from the center coolant cap, keep filling until water starts pooring out of the pipe on the plenum then connect when the waters still flowing and you should have no air in the system :)

cool cool cheers mate, this may sound silly but do you have a pic of the coolant pipe that goes to the plennum chamber?

Aceman

I was always told:

Take off both AST and Filler neck caps, along with pipe at rear of plenum
Fill until AST overflows
Replace AST cap and fill until pipe behind plenum spills
Fill up filler neck, repetivly squeezing radiator pipe gently to get more air bubbles out
Fill up till approx 2 inches below top of filler neck

Not saying that\'s correct though....

im still new to rexes so i may sound dumb but what one or ones are the AST caps?

can any one write out a guide for me?

interloper393

as you look at the engine the left ones the overflow tank, never fill this one up, the one to the right is the ast tank, and the middle one is the top up/refill.

Rob (Bobbit on here) helped me do mine a couple of days ago and we didnt touch the AST. left it capped, removed pipe from rear of plenium and just topped up till full, replaced plenium pipe and burped the system with the 2" coolant pipe. All in all took less than an hour ( and we got severely hailed on) have checked coolant level in radiator cap twice since and topped it up once and is now running perfect with temp a few degrees lower.

Cheers fella:cheers

right im still confused so ive taken a pic with the 3 filler caps in, could some one tell me what one i use to fill/top up the cooling system etc

Ok - the cap in the centre (with the yellow sticker on it) is the main coolant fill-up point

The cap on the right (snuggled in between the interwarmer and it\'s big pipe) with the black cap is the AST cap

The overflow is the white plastic one on the left of the picture, behind the headlamp

ah right cheers mate, so i presume

1, the white cap on the left i dont fill up from

2, i fill up from the middle cap with the yellow sticker on

3, the cap on the right near the intercooler is the ast cap

cheers
