strange bogging event - any ideas?

Been sorting out mapping on the FC and it\'s getting progressively more driveable.

Been gradually building up revs / boost and checking logs etc. and things seem to all be going in the right direction.

However, on my way home yesterday, I went to overtake a lorry doing about 40 mph, shifted down, put my foot down and the car picked up quickly as you\'d expect, then it just \'sort of died\' - rev\'s dropped, no response from the throttle at all. A/F ratios looked rich but not overly so, but unfortunately I wasn\'t logging it so I don\'t know what happened.  The best way to describe the symptom is if you\'d gone into the wrong gear, but I\'d already selected and accelerated in the lower gear BEFORE this happened - NO gear change WHEN it happened.

It seemed to correct itself, after I gently cruised passed the lorry (was getting ready to poo me pants if I didn\'t get passed him), I lifted off the throttle completely, and then when I reapplied it - the car seemed to return to normal - I drove gently to start with, fearing this was the start of something - but the car behaved fine the rest of the way home.

Now the question - any idea what the hell happened ?

I really would like to know, so that I can avoid this happening again. For the record, I\'ve tried the same sharp acceleration manouvere during my testing with no ill affects several times, and although I\'ve set the emanage to overfuel at the very top of the boost maps (+16 psi) - the boost controller showed only 9.1 was reached - so don\'t think that was the cause.

sounds to me like it was starved of spark, some sort of electrical problem?

Prof

could be I suppose - although I didn\'t notice any power drop in the car.

I have had a similar feeling when my alternator belt was lose so you may be on to something - just difficult to see what caused it

yeah this happened a lot on my fd when it was on twins. it was a missfire on one of the rotors.
the car still moved slowly but the engine note changed all of a sudden like it was \'borking\' if that makes sense, sort of a flat drone?  the drop in power was instant as was the noise. but yeah, it accelerated eventually like it was in 5th from 2nd?then took of again.

i changed the plugs to cooler ones and the problem went.

sadgoth

I get it in the FC at the moment but I know that it has a pair of old plugs in it which Tim was using to test it with (he didn\'t swap them back so I have to do that at the weekend) I also have the crappy stock HT leads so it could be that also note to self - must get new HT leads
