I, after spending what needed to be spent getting my fd how i wanted it with a solid and reliable 300hp+ now want to learn to drive it.

i drove fwd honda\'s before now and could go a hell of a lot quicker in my 200hp integra type R than i can go in my fd from point A-B, more so on B roads. Ok so i learnt to drive the itr and could really plant it in the wet and the lsd would just pull you out of trouble but i want to be in a position where driving hard even in the wet wasnt such a twitchy scary experience.

I have already booked up for a skidpan driver training experience with northumbria police with a highly skilled traffic bobby and plan on a number of trackdays this next year but is there any other tips etc anyone can share.

If you do a couple of track days you will soon learn how to controll the car at high speed, especially if its wet cause its usually pretty slippery on the corners where oil/engine fluids have been dropped.Castle combe in the wet was very slippery and i could easly loose traction even at 80mph going straight and on low boost.Silverstone was the same although i think that was more to do with there being a old car day or something there the day befor.Good luck and remember to keep going fast on a track where you have(mostly) plenty of run off.

A few hours on Gran Turismo and youll be well on your way.

No seriously get it out of control and learn its limits in an ASDA car park or similar. that should sort you. Or even better on a track day. practice learn to control the little vixen be fair but firm with the little hoe and you will be rewarded richly.

Or make you look like a d1ck, i think thats best left to saxo drivers with nos.  I think track days are more appropriate in this case.

Don\'t be silly, Saxo drivers don\'t have nos! Dominic Torreto does (in his RX-7 :2Rolleyes)
But yes you will look like a dick/hero depending on whos watching. If you can find somewhere flat and open that isn\'t a public car park its incredibly useful knowing the limits of you car with relatively low risk

Please dont remind me!!...  The fastest street racer, with a car loaded with full leather, ice and nos bottles..... :Thumbsup!

Thats ahy I got a DC2 for my daily runner. Quicker than most cars A-B and bloody cheap to run and never breaks.

Do some track days, get use to the FD and you\'ll soon find the limits and level of grip.
Get the suspension set up, make sure all your bushes are good and some decent rubber. You\'ll have loads of fun :yes

Hi Neil. Tony C is on here, we sponsor his Green FD that is doing well in the Nippon challenge, it could be that either if you contact him he is a ARDS instructor

"The ARDS Instructor Licence is issued by the RAC Motor Sports Association following a stringent assessment and a written and practical examination by the sponsoring racing school. A driver must have a provable history of racing experience before he / she can apply to be assessed for an ARDS Instructor Licence."

he wold probably be up for giving you instruction and could be good if a few of you got together and he could day a training day splitting the costs.

I\'ll speak to you more on the other side ;-)
