Quote from: Nik da Greek;533915If you\'re talking about the way the bonnet seems to flap and rattle up and down when you get up to speed, I think that\'s normal. Certainly both of my FDs have done it, I think it\'s cos the alloy bonnet\'s so light. Not had one come open yet (fingers crossed) but it does look slightly unnerving till you just stop noticing it......

Yep my purple FD did this too :wiggle

Thanks for your replies....

I\'m going back to the body shop on Saturday to adjust the slam panel so the bonnet sits just below the new front end...

A piece of advice for anyone thinking of fitting a new kit on their car, go for a rebutable make otherwise you will find yourself paying a small price for a bumper and the same cost if not more getting the damn thing to fit....

Is the replikit as bad as ibk kits then lol
I have bought the cheapest i could find as mine is on the track car so its only got two bolts and tiewraps holding it on!and was not so worried about a perfect fit.

The IBK kit was an extremely bad kit, so much so that we didn\'t even bother putting it on, just sent it straight back and as i mentioned earlier, they gave me a full refund with no arguments which is a great way to do business, fair play to them for that....

Lets just say the replikit required a lot of attention to get it to fit right, all good if you are doing the job yourself, not so good if you are paying a body shop, it cost me an extra days labour which i could have done without.

100% guaranteed fitment is a bit of a bold statement in my opinion although, for an extra 100 quid they offered to fit the bumper for me, would be interested to hear from anyone who has gone down that route, i chose not to as when it was offered to me the whole front end of my car was in bits and definately not in fit state to drive from Merton to Harlow....

Incidentally, the guys who did the job for me have been in this business almost longer than i have been alive so i would say they are more than capable of fitting a bumper !

Now it\'s on it looks fantastic and the guys at he bodyshop did a great job but i doubt they will ever let me put another kit on my car unless it is a genuine item, such as RE AM, C-West etc...

I\'ll get some pictures up this weekend as i\'ve not had a chance to take any.

Last bits to do this weekend is fit the K&N air filter, new plugs, fuel filter and dump valve, fingers crossed for no rain !!!

Lovely looking Rex :Thumbs-up - shame the bumper got mashed!!

Look forward to the pics with the new one fitted...

mark-ashley

So, here are a couple of pics of my poor little rex with it\'s bumper mashed up and a ding in the wing...

The bumper doesn\'t look too bad but i promise you, it\'s mashed and held together with an array of strategically fastened cable ties !!!

And here\'s what it looks like now, i\'m pretty pleased, was a bitch of a job but it looks great, and i\'ve fixed the flapping bonnet too !

Does look good now! That bumpers well aggressive looking. How did you sort the flappy bonnet problem out?

mark-ashley

I had to take the bonnet catc off, shave a bit off the bracket and drill the hole the catch bolts onto so the bonnet sits slightly lower...

Looks reall nice now, very aggresive as you say...

I\'m now fighting with a blow off valve and i\'m a bit stuck, i took off the Charge Releif Valve and replaced it with the baileys motorsport valve, i get no whoosh but i can hear pressure being dumped into the air box....

Have a taken the wrong valve off, should i have removed the ABV valve ?

Hope someone can help cause i\'m proper worried i\'m gonna **** the engine up !!!

I had to take the bracket off that attaches the bonnet mach to the body, shave the top of the bracket a bit and drill the hole on it the mech bolts onto so i could lower it, were talking a gnats arse lower but it did the trick and kept the lines which is a result...

At the moment i am fighting with a BOV, i think i have put it in the wrong place, i removed the charge relief valve and replave it with the BOV, now it\'s dumping into the ari box, think i should have taken the ABV off and replaced that with the BOV, i\'ve cut the bloody hose now too, nightmare.....

Any ideas what i might have done wrong ?

Nik da Greek

Yeah, I think the charge relief valve wants to stay as it is, and the BOV should replace the air bypass valve. At least, thats how mine\'s set up, I just used the spigot from the Y-pipe that the ABV was plumbed into as the take-off for the dump valve and blocked the now redundant hole on th e air box. Well, induction kit, airbox, whatever you\'re running

It\'s a really crap photo, but hopefully shows what I mean;

As you can see (hopefully!) the CRV is still where it should be (red circle) but the dump valve comes off the union n the Y-pipe formerly used by the ABV. HTH, and hope it\'s the correct way of doing it. I\'ve been running like this for two years or so with no trouble, so it seems ok!

mark-ashley

I spoke to Clive and he said to just pull the pipe off the air box and that should do the trick as the waste was dumping straight in the airbox, sounded like a cow mooing with emphazemia, however, i\'ve seen a few pics now, yours included and the CRV is still in place...

The problem i have now is i cut the bloody hose as i couldn\'t get the CRV off it so i need a new hose to go from the airbox to the CRV...

Have tried to get a part from Mazda in Docklands but so far they have been bloody useless.

Im sure i\'m not going to do any damage, might give Clive a quick call and see if he has a hose in stock !

The Mooooooing is an airpump "feature" that you can end up with under certain combinations of filter and restriction in the pipes. You need a silenced filter for the airpump, whic is why it comes off from a little separate compartment filled with foam in the standard airbox. Aftermarket induction kits usually come with a little restricotr that goes in the hose that causes the problem, but if you buy the kit secondhand, this is often missing. You can make your own from any kinda bung with a hole through it, but it needs to have an internal diameter of about 6mm or so (I think the standard hose is about 19mm, 22mm something like that?). Loads of threads about airpump mooing around, if you do a search you\'ll probably find one which explains it better than me. I think I\'ve got a photo around somewhere of the hose you need the restrictor in, hang about...
