I am looking at rebuilding my engine with possibly some very mild porting and going single turbo. I am only looking for around 350-400bhp to maintain driveabilty. Does this turbo set-up sound okay?
67mm compressor wheels and P trim turbine wheels. 0.96a/r turbine housing.

What else would people recommend.

Thank you

Spool vs cost, if you want that power level and don\'t want to spend on a gt35 I;d say look into either a to4s (or even to4e). Low boost on a to4s should see those figures.

Would\'nt the lag time be less if you had a V mount instead of a front mount?

leeroy_25

Cheers Memski,
How does that compare Trim , compressor size and A/R wise to the figures I put down?

Mitch not sure what you are saying here?? If you are refering to the intercooler.. I don\'t know all the ins and outs of it, but I would guess it doesn\'t make a huge difference. I would expect a bit more pressure loss accross a FMIC as a pose to a V-mount as the piping run is likely to be longer for a start. any how I am running a nice neat SMIC.

350/400....... i presume you mean fwhp?

The A-spec GT3574 is good for those figures even with a stock port. You\'d need to some work on it to plumb the wastegate back in.

leeroy_25

Yes that\'s correct. so I guess that translates to 300bhp or so at the hubs?

AshRX

to4e mate, will make 300 atw @ 0.7 bar piece of cake and will probably hit high 300\'s with more boost. Or To4R to take it up to 400 flywheel

T04S is the perfect turbo for your needs.

On mine with small porting I see 335 rwhp at 0.85 bar, 385fwhp.

Driveable and reliable :D

thats what im using with a 1.0 a/r exhaust but with pretty big ports hoping for 380rwhp with very good spool.

memski

The figures you\'ve put up are similar to the t04r, I would go with a to4e if you want maximum spool and aren\'t worried about top end power. To4s is more future proof at the expense of low end grunt. Speak to cash he had a to4e for quite some time and now has a to4s equivalent (60-1).

3574 would be nice but it will cost more and there\'s only one place that makes this turbo in the states.

Ed_RX7

yes i would say a t61 or t62 will be ideal for you...with scope for more power in the future....cos you are goona want more at some point!!!!!!. I got Kashs turbo for him and spec\'d it to his requirements....hence the reason he has an unusually large rear housing......needless to say he is loving it!.....

Gimme a shout and ill let you know what i can get and for how much.

Yep as Eds said enjoying my turbo loads and it\'s not been mapped to full potential yet, but boy does it go! :D

Hehehe...I like it....funny:Giggle

Driveability is more related to your clutch type, not so much the power. Puck & button clutches that bite hard and are crapy in traffic will make even a 100hp car crapy to drive. Go for a nice single, twin or triple plate Exedy clutch. The Carbon range are the best, they are designed for high power but operate like a stock clutch. Smooth traffic driving.

I think driveability in the terms of power is more a thing of how the person behinde the wheel applys that power to the road. Im not laughing at you, I just think what you said is funny.

Dont get me wrong, power can be leathel, but it dose not so much affect the drivabelity of the car as much as the right clutch setup will.

leeroy_25

Hi There Doc!
I see where your coming form. but when I was talking riveablity I just litterally meant I don\'t want a turbo that needs 6000rpm to get it going and leave me with no low down grunt! I am more interested in something that will go like a missile from go than the out and out power! The rx7 is a nice light car by comparisson to my old liner so I want to make use of that! My intention clutch wise was to go for a twin plate of sorts. They seem pretty reasonable from the states so I will probably order one from there!

Now Ed. can you e-mail me at leeroy_25@hotmail.com so I can see what you might be able to do for me?

Cheers
