Well, as you struggle to get your mods working the FD throws in some little complaints of its own...

Alarmed the car last night, pulled the door handle to check it was locked and it opened! Alarm was definitely on (and I could hear the motors doing their central locking thing), so I tried using the key, which locked the doors. Went back to the car to move it, and neither the alarm nor the key would unlock it!

Ended up going in the passenger side, reaching over to unlock the driver\'s door and getting in that way. I guess it\'s an electro-mechanical component that\'s gone sticky, anybody know the most likely cause and its whereabouts?

Does the door ahndle still feel like it has some resistance? It could be that the handle\'s stopped working (as it\'s quite common) and then even if it\'s locked or unlocked it\'ll not open from the handle.

Obviously the central locking is a OK as it\'s working on the passenger side.

Had this same problem with mine a while back. I ended up taking the handle off and driving it a good clean and a re-grease.Its amazing the amount of crap that gets in behind the handle assembley. Also took off the d/s door card and checked and re-greased the wire rod and connection points.

Hmm, resistance in the handle and it does open the car when unlocked. Not much resistance (if any) in the lock mechanism though, so I guess it\'s off with that first and have a look inside. The fact that the lock motors make a decent noise when the alarm is armed suggest that they\'re doing their thing, so it\'s probably the lock or the internal lock lever not travelling far enough.
