Hey fella\'s ive got me some 8 and 9" alloys for my FC, and planning on getting some R888 for them. Just checking what widths I can run, the ET\'s are 35 I think. With the toyo;s not being cheap I dont want to buy them and then find that they dont fit:rolleyes:

Would 235 and 255\'s be okey???

Thanks, regards Andy:wiggle

Hi Andy,

I think 255\'s are too big for 9\'s

I recommend 215 on the 8\'s and 225 on the 9\'s. Ive got 8 front et32 9 rear et35. Running 215 front 225 rear.

Did have 225 all round but on the fronts (8\'s) the sidewall\'s sat straight, but I prefer stretched sidewall\'s.

If you want straight sidewall\'s then I would recommend 225 front and 235 rear.

i run 235 x 45 x 17 rears no problem.

I run 225x45 on 17x8\'s all round - means I can swap front to back even on directional tyres.  It\'s also a dead common tyre size, so Eagle F1\'s are around £70-75 a corner :)

235s at the front and 255 on the rear (Ive got 8" o the front an 9" on the rear with that combination and it seems to work)

Btw - if you find a friendly tyre place, they may test-fit an old/knackered tyre  (of the right size) to your rim, so you can check sizes before buying the R888\'s

I used this to test a 235/40/18 before forking out for my Eagle F1s - just as well I did too - with a 235 I couldn\'t go lock-to-lock, as the wheel was fouling somewhere in the arch!

Hmmmmmmmm, what to do what to do? good idea to go to a garage and try some. Need the widest rubber I can get, so its ready for the track ;)

Andy, its not all about the widest rubber.... You could easily fit 225 front and 235 or 245 rear, but you will be prone to tyre roll. My car felt much better and turned better with 215 front and 225 rear than it did when I ran 225 all round.

Tyre roll?? blimey never thought of that. Guess i was thinking more about a drag set up, which is not what I want to focus on. Thanks will go for the best fitting :)

sometimes a slightly wider tyre will protect the rims as well, I can put up with a bit of tyre roll to protect a valuable set of alloys.
