hi there

i don\'t know what just happened, haven\'t been driving my car for a week, had to sort some things out, i had to replace:

radiator and hoses, eliminated ast, changed bottom crankshaft pulleys, replaced power steering pump tank, front shock absorber, brake pads, and drive belt(done some interior stuff as well but i don\'t think this is related to my problem)

basically i have just refilled my cooling system, started the engine for first 30 seconds there was a white smoke coming out my exhaust pipe(i think that was because i haven\'t been driving it but i dont know) then it was ok, engine sounds bit different then before i replaced those things. basically i want to accelerate and when i put my foot down car starts choking and loosing revs(well it sounds like it) i looked under the bonnet whilst engine was running and asked my m ate to press acceleration , same thing but i have noticed that air pump pulley, stops spinning when i accelerate. dont know but i got some weirid feeling that this is because i have done something to them pulleys but i don\'t know what :(

the other thing is, when i was replacing the power steering tank i had to unplug the cable at the back of the p/s pump and when i was doing it cable just snapped(well it\'s still in one piece but i heard it)
this is the cable i\'m talking about(does it have something to do with those power looses?

please...i want to start driving my car...:(

I think thats normal with the air pump i think the electric clutch disengages somewhere around 2k revs,
cant help with broken wire, maybe it relates to crak sensor! but thats only a guess,

I\'ve got a feeling that is the connector for the oil metering pump.  I had a similar issue with my car where it just wouldn\'t accelerate at all, kept going in to \'limp home\' mode. RE:worx eventually sussed it, cleaned out the connections in there and then it was ok!
So does sound like its related to that connector..best get a multimeter on it to check it.:yes

have you pulled up the ECU codes? it might help in diagnosing is there are any solenoids not working

sickboy2345

ok i have checked MOP wire and plug, theinsulation was snapped, not a  cable, what i did was i have cleaned the wires and plug and then i put some insulation tape around every single wire with broken insulation(was 3 of them) then i have taped it all up with a new tape, looked ok to me, i have cleaned the plug as well
(one thing i wasn\'t sure about is :there was no pin in the socket (just one)

i dont know if iit ok but this is how it looks now.

i have started the engine but it was still the same :( engine doesn\'t sound like it works properly, it\'s like something was breaking up...when i started the engine i looke at the hand brake light and it was kinda flashing, not all the time but i took it like the car wasn\'t getting enough power or something(i tried to video it but when i was recording, the light stayed stabil), i pressed acceleration and car started to choke again...i have recorded a video so you can hear the engine :(

any ideas?? :(

i was messing up with the interior, is it possibl;e that i have done something to the wiring?

help....

no i haven\'t ..how do i do that? i don\'t even know where the ECU is located..

welshrx-7

the ecu is by the passenger footwell where your left foot would be you got to take the plastic bit that goes across the bottem of the door sill then pop the two pins out that is holding the cover on and it will then pop off showing your ecu

LeedsLad

if you have been unplugging things it\'s a good idea to reset the ecu (if it\'s standard) try that it can\'t hurt

sickboy2345

yeah but how do i reset ECU?

Timmy

Disconnect the battery and put you foot on the brake to take all the power out. Then leave it for 30mins or so and reconnect.

sickboy2345

just done the reset...still the same :(( + i have noticed that speedo niddle goes up itself...

adib

hi if you snapped a sencor i will go into limp mode if you have no joy with it im in wellingborough and could have a look if you get stuck mate

Have you got the standard ECU ??  As i recall (cos i\'ve tried) you can only pull the error codes from the standard ECU...

If you link out TEN and GND (i.e. a wire) and then connect an LED to B+ and FEN in the diagnostics port in the engine bay and then switch ignition to no.2 (not start the engine) then you can see the LED flash (if there\'s a fault) and count the flashes which you can correspond to the error codes...

tried to find what this code means but i couldnt

does someone know how to read it off the multimeter?

adib it would be great if you could help me with it, ill be back in couple of days(going to Scotland  - i\'ll have my laptop so i can reply to the posts ) and ill let you know.

ok i had to go to the garage, went to Mazda dealer, don\'t even ask how much they charge p.a but there was no choice. Don\'t know if you guys interested but just to keep you updated, or maybe someone will have similar problem - it\'s worth checking.
