Hi all,

My project FD is nearly complete now. I am looking to finalise the tidying of my engine bay by replacing the corroded nuts, bolts and other fixtures with new ones.

Does anyone have a list of the specifications of all the bits and pieces in the engine bay (e.g. suspension top mount nuts). Is there a parts database, list or similar anywhere around ? Also does anyone know of anywhere that stocks bolts, etc in colours / anodised / black, etc ?

In the absence of a list, I guess I will be taking one of each and going to a fixtures specialist, I cannot think of another way.

Any help most appreciated !

I\'ve used BSR/Aerotek (Braided Steel Racing, as was) for years and can recommend them for bolts and nuts and stuff. They\'re a bike-orientated company, but bolts and such are pretty much universal so long as you know the sizes. Offer all kinds of stuff, anoodised alloy, stainless and titanium. (Don\'t use stainless on suspension unless it\'s high-tensile though, or alloy on anything stressed!) They do all sorts of good stuff like braided lines, oil coolers and so on, too.

You could always start the guide yourself Craig and let us know how you get on during the cleaning :)

Also good for just bags of basic stainless bolts and washers etc are Bolt Me Up on good ol\' Ebay, I\'ve bought plenty of bags of M6 stainless from them for engine bay brackets and other stuff, most of the smaller stuff seems to be held on with them, airfilters, ducting etc.

Hope that\'s of some help. Sorry I can\'t point you at a parts list for sizes or owt from Mazda, but bolts are pretty simple to size yourself. Like I say, don\'t use alloy on anything heavy or stressed, and don\'t use stainless on stressed applications unless it\'s high tensile

OK, I\'ll take on the challenge of writing something up....
