Quote from: Philo;495709Good sounds like a new car is on its way to you :D And you got down to £1600 with all those mods declared?

Alloy wheels plus “LOADS OF EXTRA ETC GREEDY TURBO AND OIL TEMP GAUGES. AIR FILTERS AND GREEDY DUMP VALVE. MANY MORE BONUSES CALL FOR DETAILS.”

My little brother pays about that for his standard small engine Peugeot 206 :rollin

Thiers nothing really thier that effects performance, i dont see it effect insurance that much, and if it does i can always rip it out! i will update them once i have a full list. subject to having it checked over by powergains! has anyone got a contact no for them?

Rotary_Menace: I Think you\'ll be struggling tho mate in all honesty....

I can see yours in the photos in your sig, chap, and very nice it is too, but since it obviously ain\'t for sale, it\'s no use to the original question set by Rotary Menace, yeah? I wasn\'t trying to disrespect the quality of UK cars, just the availabilty of them :Thumbs-up!

Rotary Menace, well done on your, er, affordable quote, but don\'t get complacent that just cos you think the mods won\'t matter, the insurers won\'t care either. They will. If you wrap the car up and their assessor sees anything non-standard you haven\'t declared to them, they\'ll use that as an excuse to not pay out. That may in the worst case mean you\'re considered to be uninsured, and liable personally for any costs that an accident you\'ve had (God forbid) has caused, up to and including death and carnage! Prison and bankrupcy will follow!

Ok, that\'s a bit of a gloomy picture, but it really ain\'t worth the risk of not declaring mods to your insurers. Seriously

Quote from: Kevin;495649Price you have to pay im afraid.  If it\'s any concellation the majority of us have been through it.  I remember having to pay £3400 when I was 18 for my MR-2 turbo.  It only seems like I was 18 two minutes ago...... Then you wake up and it\'s 15 years later. :(

You flash *******....you had a brand new/ nearly new MR2 Turbo at 18??
Turned into the worst part of my life....my precious fd3 has gone, but never forgotten....roll on a new life!!!!

I know Nik :D just a statement that was all and yeah i know they usually go bad...

Anyway, glad you\'ve managed to find a "reasonable" quote mate, and the car in the link looks very very nice, so if you have the funds and opportunity i would go and see it, and i agree with Nik, declare everything as Insurers often look for ways out anyhow of paying something so you want to make sure you\'re covered, not just for your own sake but for the third party also.

Just a suggestion, but it might be worth talking to someone on here from the area it\'s in and maybe they can pop down with you if you want to look at it and give their opinion based on their rotary experience??/ Just a thought..... :)

I was speaking to a friend who works for an insurance company. Now dont take this as gospel cos shes not the sharpest tool in the box...but shes not thick as 2 planks either. She told me that even if the policy is voided as long as the premium has been paid/monthly payments kept up, that the insurers still have to pay out the 3rd party liability..

Now i dont know how true that is...anyone care to shed some light?

I had an MR2 turbo at 18 :Giggle god that was 6 years ago now  Sure my FD was costing me 2kish when i got it at 21.

How depressing! There was no such thing as an MR2 Turbo when I was 18! I had a mark 1 Golf that was like a badly-tied bag of sh!t, never really ran for long enough for it to need insurance, the only way it could\'ve caused an accident was if it caught fire whilst someone was walking past...

Madbadweasel

Cheaper than my old integra to insure! Been with the same insurance company since ive been driving, Owned Mr2 Turbo\'s and Integra type R\'s etc before the RX7, and ive got a Pretty damn good condition UK Spec with its share of modifications and only pay £1600 a year fully comp on that, bear in mind im only 19 with 1 years no claims bonus.....

Lol...  It was a few years old at the time, 1993. It was an early 1989 G-reg revision one in black....  Not a patch on the FC it replaced, but as a daily driver it was slightly more reliable. ;)
