Respray looks likely; are all these reflective bits necessary?

Unfortunately when parking my car the front bumper scraped a brick wall. The damage is superficial but is unfortunately very noticeable (well to me it is). :reallymad

The person driving the car has agreed to pay for the repair or contribute to a respray. I am tempted to go for a same colour respray (silver). As in my experience colour matching is never perfect and I think the car would benefit from a full spray.

What do you lot think of removing the orange reflective bits on the front bumper and just behind the rear wheel? Are they needed? Do you think the car will look ‘cleaner’ without them?

LINK to show the orange bits i am talking about.

My silver car may look something like this one with no orange (or red) anywhere

Get them shaved off matey, it\'ll look 1000x better!

All you need to keep are the side indicators (or these could be relocated as ive done with mine to the mirrors).

If you need a pic of my car thats been fully cleaned give me a hola (even the fuel cap went!).

You do need to have red reflectors at the rear also - although if you can find a new home for them in the rear light housing, or have some that are only truly visible during MOT time, you\'ll be ok...

I wanted it high up on the C pillar, like the Scoot one-off RX7 is (I thought of it first mind, lol), but it was too hard to move it that high up.  Instead its in the boot, on the LHS just above the light.  All it needed was a 90o bend on the fuel line!  Get a few funny looks opening the boot to fuel up and it takes a while to fuel, but other than that...:D

Na, its passed two MOTs since with no fuel cap worries.  It has also failed a couple of times on top of that for other reasons, but filler cap was never mentioned.

All\'s good :)

Ok my front orange bits are as good as gone. :)

Whene you say the rear ones are needed do you mean the ones on the back bumper? I can live with them.  I assume I can get rid of the reflectors just behind the rear wheels right?

Picture is not my car, but figure it helps show bits.

Also thinking of de-badgeing, de-spoilering and removing the exterior aerial... wiper...

On my previous Montego Blue Rex those reflectors behind the rear wheels had proper factory bulbholders in them and lit up with the sidelights! I\'ve not seen another one like that, dunno if it was an American market thing or what, I know they like lots of running lights. Not really relevant, but I thought I\'d mention it!

I think the more invisible you make them the better, if not delete them at all. Easier with a red car than a silver one, just give them a whizz over with tinting spray. worked for mine, especially the sickly yellow-orange front ones. I think the only reflector you have to have by law is the rear bumper one. You do need side repeaters for the indicators, though

i have seen many people remove the ones in the rear quarters, so should be ok.   not normally the ones in the rear bumper though

flatted and painted over the rear bumper ones, the reverse light come out so its an easy job.

anyway heres a pic of what it looks like
debadged no wiper, spoiler  or factory ariel. I put an after market ariel in the place the washer jet went for the rear window

but come MOT time I have stick on red reflectors if they get fussy.

Cheers

Ooooh, we likes those rear lights, we does, my precious!

My bike gets an MOT each year on the strength of a 10p red stick-on reflector the size of, well, a 10p piece, really, that lasts about three days before fallin off. I then somehow manage to spend the remaining 362 days of the year without getting rear-ended, but there you go. The law\'s an arse!

Lol yes I also manage to not get banged up the rear for 364 days as well.
