opinions please

hey guys. im close to buying a 13b engine for a project rebuild. it comes with the box and all ancillaries etc, however the engine i am looking at has completely dead turbos!!!!! i couldnt care less about the turbos im more concerned about the engines internals! just wondered what you guys thought. is this worth the £400 region concidering the possible dammage there might be inside? also whats the worst that could have happen to the internals?

the turbos could be fooked because the tip/s broke off and went thru the turbo. Theres 2 ways of looking at that big bits most have broken off and could have scored the rotor housing plates badly or they could have broken off and come out the exhaust quickly screwing up the turbos.
You really won\'t know till you strip the engine down. I would budget for the most expensive rebuild.
But it sound like its not running too bad hard to tell from that clip.

well the egt\'s are high, real high and it runs worse than it sounds on the video. its not easy to start but weather thats because the internals are knackered or its the turbos making it run mega rich due to the lack or air.

Could be a really bad air leak or a bad pressure sensor. £400 isn\'t a terrible price and is a good starter to rebuild, if you think its anything major then walk away.

Is then engine for an FD ? I got a FC EGI engine for around that price that was in good condition.

yeah its for a FD. well the turbos are most certainly dead. you should hear the noise they make when listening with a stethascope.
the engine is from a friend of mine so im sure if it was really bad inside he would refund me. just wondered what you guys thought.
