Hi, Iv been lurking and trying to learn a bit about the Gen3 RX7 Twin T as the girlfiriends got one.........

Anyway, as of yesterday morning, it just won\'t start.

We have a spark, and we have new spark plugs

We have fuel, LOADS of it ! too much.........?

But we have no go.

Can anyone advise or help? Over the last 5 or so weeks the fuel consumption has been getting worse and worse. VERY VERY bad. Now it seems theres too much and its flooding almost immediately.

We took the plugs out and let the bores dry out for an hour and then put new plugs in (9\'s). Checked that we had a spark at the plugs and put them back in. It wouldn\'t start.

There\'s serious petrol fumes from the exhaust, the plugs are sopping wet.

Any ideas?

How was the idle last time it was running?

Hi,
ECU, seems to be a standard one, certainly not anything written on it to suggest otherwise.

Idle : As it should be, @1200 cold and @750 hot.

Any ideas?

hi mate if its flooded it could take days before it will fire up, best thing ive found is to take the plugs out and turn engine over with egi fuse out and then leave it a while, replace fuse then heat plugs over gas hob or i used a lighter, you will need plenty off gas if you use lighter, and get end off plugs hot and replace and try and start it.
kept doing it to it started, but make sure you replace egi fuse before you try and start

Or accelerator to the floor turn over a few times and then try starting normally, where abouts in the midlands are you ?

Thanks for the replies this far:

Im in Solihull ( B91 ).

Have been exceptionally busy for last 48 hours with work so not gone to the car since yesterday @12:00.

I browsed for other posts on similar subjects / symptoms... Could it be worth while looking / checking the vacumn hoses?

I have not had any chance at all to properly look over this RX7, It sure is different to \'conventional\' cars ! Do the leads run to a coil pack under the inlet manifold?

Anyway, Iv not really a clue... I can only assume the massive drop in fuel economy is somehow linked to the overfueling now...?????

I have to admit I was hoping someone had experienced the same thing and would just pop up and say \'Oh, yes mate, Iv had that, its the *****\'

I guess on this one I might not be quite so lucky!

More likely the plugs, yeah the leads go to 3 coil packs under there, so check the coil packs, leads and plugs. what temperature plugs are you running?

as for fuel economy what mpg are you getting?

fesuvious

Well, last Sunday fifteen quid lasted @15 miles ! And thats with the missus driving!

The plugs are NGK 9\'s.

My car went that bad for fuel but i\'d lost a tip which was blatently obvious.

Phoned AA, to ask if they carry diagnostic equipment.
Tomorrow Il call them out and get them to plug her in......

What you all reckon ?
