Brett

I\'ve been mostly thinking about putting an old BMW 2.5 6cyl turbo diesel into a scimitar ;)

If your rover v8 is standard its even easier for you,as 390 holley carbs come pre jetted from the factory, simple, bolt on & go.
Get vacuum secondaries
on the carb, not the double pumper version.
It took me a year messing round with carb jets trying to get the car running smoothly throughout the rev range!!!
If youve got some spare cash, get the heads done, performance exhaust manifolds & camshaft etc will make you fly:Thumbs-up
Or if you win the lottery a 5litre rover lump would be a lot of fun.
Also use a composite intake gasket when fitting edelbrock inlet manifold as the tin ones are useless.
Also renew the 2 rubber sealing strips at either end of the block.
Have fun!!:Thumbs-up

i\'m putting a chrysler 5.2 in my fc at the moment,i cant belive how easy it is to get it to fit the rx,i\'ve had to cut the transmition tunnel at the passanger side and have lowered the anti roll bar by half an inch.230 bhp standard with loads of tuneing goodies around, before all the rotary fans go mad with me can i say that the rotary was well and truly past it.cant wait to get it on the road.

the FC 13B is at like 230 as standard lol does a V8 rev to 12k when its race ready?

are you a complete donkey...eveyone has there own opinion, and you preach like the 13b is the only engine to ever have,if people had the same thoughts it would be a rather boring, the v8 is actually a good engine, very reliable and can be tuned for for far less than a rotary, sure there are rotarys out there that will be faster and produce more power...but on the whole its a personal taste thing...i had an fc with a rover v8 in it,sounded great but was seriously slow...i also built an fd with a 350 sbc engine which was very quick, again personal prefrence,i now have just built a supra mkiv with a 355 ali head chevy engine, with a t56 6 speed box...:)

and you would have to spend some serious cash to make any rotor wind up to 12k rpm ona regular basis.
 cheers, michael.

Also try MG owners club for SU parts, you don\'t have to be a member.
On the V8 front I went down the Offey mani. and a 420 Holly.:Thumbs-up

I wish i had 230BHP from my FC but then again i don\'t live in BERKhampstead.

Standard is 197.26 bhp [taken from T11 sales brochure]

i wish my fc had 230 bhp too,it was a non turbo and put out 145 bhp,to get it to rev to 12k will cost about 12k too. v8\'s are cheap power with losts of torque and are reliable,my othe fc has the rotary engine still in it and its a tempremental heap of junk, cant wait to pull it out and fit a v8.does a v8 rev to 12k when its ready to race, yes, formula 1 18000 +,top fulel dragster around 12k then there are the bike engine derived v8s like the one in the radical sr8.....i\'ll stop there.

dthebuk

what about handling, can you notice the difference with a v8? (ive always wondered)

\'91 FC TII - Drifter... Under construction :D
:burnout

vinnythespud

i will notice with the chrysler engine because its all cast iron but the ls chevy engines are all alloy so dont make too much difference and a rover v8 is probably lighter than the rotary.

I think the other one you are all thinking off is this Egi based one which was at Jap Show Finale last November? Or are there even more spookily white V8 FC\'s out there? :2eek

Brett and I spoke to the owner for ages! It was a fun project car that they\'d bought - engine was running fine but the car couldn\'t be driven as they were having problems getting the gearbox to work!

This one was also up for sale some months ago on Ebay - so it would be interesting to know what\'s happened to it. Anyone recognise this one?
