Quote from: TimrxmotorsTotally agree with the 10%.known a standard FD see 174mph on the clock,so about 157mph.Why do people want more power in a road car?

surely if they didnt you would probably go out of business :p surely you make most of your money from hop ups for road cars

Timrxmotors

I love doing the conversions for more power too,but a standard FD,0-60 in 5 secs,175mph top speed,on the clock, and handling allowing them to be driven stupidly fast,do you really need more in a road car? For the track, yes!

thats also what is printed on the sticker inside the door, so i know its standard for an import 94 Type R
94 Type R\'s had 17" rims?

Quote from: Papercupmy experience would suggest they are not 10% out when running standard wheel sizes...

where did this 10% theory come from? Thats a lot. Why would a Rex have a speedo thats worse than others?

It doesn\'t, as i have found.

Its a slippery shape as well...

i can tell you they are more than 10% out then i would imagine over 100mph they are even further out. At 60mph my clock show about 70mph. I know this is factual as i have an apexi rsm which is far more acurate than the standard clocks. I believe the inauracy is done on purpose by the manufactures.

stocky

larger wheels dont always mean speedo is wrong if you have the right tire size on the wheel the rolling radius should be the same size

i\'ll take a piccy of the sticker inside the drivers door if you like...

if they are 10% as you say then over 100mph would be more wouldn\'t it? 10% of a higher number...

i still say they arent and have the experience to prove it. Indicated 165 was real 157.

at indicated 90 my mates Road Angel said 83...so its not a percentage, mine over-reads by a similar amount whatever the speed

cerbera\'s are wicked cars, old man\'s on his third one, first one he did 90+ thousand in and the second one did about 70+ thousand in, all trouble free used everyday for work....at the end of the day, its all about how you treat them, just like the rex\'s :)
as for un-safe bit of a strong statement......got a picture of one of these in a tvr sprint magazine where a guy carshed at over 140mph and came out with out a scratch on him (bit of a sore back though ;) ).all depends on what you hit but id be supprised if the rex did that. i would say the rx is more un-safe than the cerb.......
unlucky about your car mate, sorry to hear its gone pop......hope you get it sorted...

What kind of wheels are they? I mean, what do they look like? same as the stock 16s but bigger? or are they a BBS rim? got a piccy? (rims not sticker ;-))

Each car will be slightly different maybe but i wouldn\'t believe sat nav, thats inacurate aswell it constantly has to calculate your speed by distance traveled ie. is doesn\'t allow for corners and still has delays as it has to think. For accuracy something that splices into the speed sensor wire is far more acurate.

I think the best way to look at it is rpm i recon assumeing your on the standard rev limiter the you\'d hit that at approximately 170mph so 180mph is well out the question assumeing you make it to 7k thats about 150mph. These figure are really rough neither do i have any idea where it will top out not been on a track day yet.

if you don\'t believe the road angel thats fine, but the 157 at indicated 165 was throught timing beams at a drag event - see my earlier posts.

Just a couple of things. I was overboosting and only mapped for point .8 and the boost controller was showing .9 to 1 bar. i think it was too late by then oops. thing is the car ran ok that night. just the day after it was lumpy then a week later it totally went.

As far as my speed goes. i was on 17/40s width doesnt matter. and the rpm was over 7500 rpm. there is a conversion table somehwere but i couldnt get it to work it out for me.

im not bothered if it was 165 or 185 it was damn quick and ive blown my motor up as a consequence of overboosting.

this is probably a sticky wastegate? i could have been making major power just before the blow and i was not looking at all my guages (can you blame me)

Im very impressed to see the rx7 with tuning being better than a cerbera over a 1/4 mile. what about the mile though, those cerberas do 185 ya know.

DR SCHNITZEL

As for crash speeds, in a road car id be very suprised if anyone would survive a major colliosion with a lamp post at over 60mph. im taking my rx apart now for a new engine and the crumple zones dont exactly look 2008 5 star ratings. id put money on there being a negligible difference if an rx hit a cerbera head on at closing speed of 80 mph ie 40 each.

Brett

A head on smash with each car doing 40mph is the equivalent of two 40mph impacts, not one 80mph impact :yes
Brap Brap Brap Brap

DR SCHNITZEL

Yeah mucker. If a cerbera was stationary and a rx hit it head on doing 80....what would the difference in damage be if they both where doing 40 and hit head on? post pics if you can please
